Undervote = BS term for "there are no punches for President, but we think he must've meant Gore"

Overvote = BS term for "well, someone punched two holes for President but we think he must've meant just Gore."

Undervote is when you vote for all democrats or republicans yet leave the president blank they decide that you did really want to vote for a democrat for pres and count that as an undervote.

Overvote is when you vote for president Twice on a ballot. Sometimes republicans or democrats also win other party spots on ballots.

From Communist Goals - 1963 Congressional Record...

15. Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States.

20. Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, policymaking positions.

21. Gain control of key positions in radio, TV, and motion pictures.

29. Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to
cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.

Great comment! Change the meter scale to read "Treason Factor" and it would help shame the media for pulling this crap out on Veterans Day when only a year ago Algore and his minious were doing their damndest to disenfranchise men and women in uniform.

How much do you want to bet that those mounds of chads that appeared on on the floor when they were recounting, re-recounting and re-re-recounting the ballots were poked out by the "counters" in order to convert Nader and Buchanan votes into Gore "over votes"?

Treasonous because it is designed to undermine our President.

Bush is President. It was ALL OVER the day the US Supreme Court ruled.

PERIOD.

All undervotes and overvotes are illegal and, as such, do not count in the vote tally. I wonder why anyone would waste their time counting something that doesn't count? /sarcasm

In other words, if illegal votes are counted.

You're just a little off...let me help you out.

In other words, if illegal votes are counted ONLY IN FLORIDA.

The problem is that too many people are fully behind the President and the liberal media can't take the chance that the voting public will show their support to the conservatives..... they must drum up controversy!

Our President is George W. Bush....gore lost..... the libs need a new hobby..... perhaps an extended vacation in the deserts of the Middle East? ;-)

I saw a TV report, I wish I could remeember where, that was broadcast just after the whole mess was decided where a reporter got hold of one of the voting machines and some cards and tried to make a dimpled or hanging chad. He was unable to do so, UNLESS... he stuffed the machine with a stack of cards, four or more, and tried to punch through all of them simultaneously.

The count is irrelevant. The rats were stuffing the boxes. Even in the face of widespread fraud Bush won. He would have won in a landslide in an honest election. This whole issue of dredging this up now is nothing but another exercise in dishonesty designed to discredit GW when this media scum know damn well who really won. It's disgusting.

"Under all the scenarios"???? How about the scenario where all overvotes and undervotes are trashed because they are INVALID VOTES??? Any voter that under or over voted was too ignorant (in my opinion) to have their vote counted.

"Bush Is the Prez...case closed". I take it that the two claims are consistent. Ie there would be no contradiction in saying that Bush is President even though Gore recieved more votes in Florida.

For the benefit of those who forgot all about this mess months ago, could someone review the definitions of an undervote and an overvote?

An "undervote" is a special kind of non-vote. It is the kind of non-vote where the voter failed to detach the chad from the ballot. In particular, if you went to the polls, got a ballot, did nothing to it, then dropped it in the box, you have just "under-voted". Your ballot has no vote on it, therefore it is an "undervote". (Sometimes, of course, the people who attempt to count "undervotes" think they can spot a little faint impression, or "dimple" as they call it, which - THEY THINK - indicates that the voter who turned in this ballot MAY HAVE meant to push that chad all the way off. This is completely subjective after-the-fact mind-reading, however.)

Now, for "overvote". An "overvote" is a ballot on which two (or more) chads are detached for the same office (for which only one choice can be valid). In other words, if you punched the chads for both "Gore" and "Bush", you have "overvoted". This, too, is a special category of Non-Vote, because after all if you vote for more than one candidate your vote is disqualified, since there's no real way to determine who you meant to vote for. (On the other hand, the people who engage in counting things like "overvotes" seem to use the following criterion: "Any ballot with both the Gore Hole and someone else's hole punched out, must REALLY be a Gore vote.")

So there you have it. Two different categories of Non-Votes: that is all that they are.

Hope this helps. ;)

This is actually patheticly funny! If all the ballots that voted for 2 Presidents were given to Gore, and if all the ballots that voted for no President were given to Gore then he wins!!!!!These people are certifiable!!!

could someone review the definitions of an undervote and an overvote?

An Undervote is one where the vote for president was left blank but the rest of the ballot was voted for Democrat candidates. This ballot should therefore count the missing presidential vote as a vote for Gore. If the ballot contained votes for Republicans, then the ballot is discarded.

An Overvote is a ballot where the vote for president included Gore and another candidate or write-in. This ballot should also be counted for Gore. If the ballot contained a vote for Bush and another candidate or write-in, then the ballot is discarded.
