Could this happen at your school ?
I thought I would share with you all. Three events that happened over the last two days.
The first was on Monday. From a letter sent home with the kids last week said Monday was Red, White & Blue day. You were to wear something patriotic. So after school on Monday my 1st. grader jumps off the bus wearing a big flag button. I ask were did you get that nice flag button ? and she replies Oh one of the 1st grade teachers brought them in and gave them out to all the 1st graders
Can you imagine that a Teacher bringing in flag buttons and handing them out at school !
And tonight went over to the High School for a drama club parent appreciation dinner and play. And what posters did I see up on the wall there ? All over the school the FFA Buck Pool. For 2 bucks entry you can bet on if you will get the biggest racked Deer.
What is this world coming to. A school has a patriotic day. Lets a teacher hand out flag buttons. And permits hunting with gun posters up on the walls.
Is the reciting of the pledge not an everyday occurrance in all parts of the country?
Here in Georgia, as far as I know, all public schools say the pledge at the beginning of the school day. It's been that way since I was in school and long before.
Exactly what the parents thought. The teacher said she was preserving the separation of church and state. I corrected her that the Supreme Court fairly recently established a neutral, not hostile, approach toward religious expression in the public schools. While I was explaining this to her in words she could understand I noticed her bulletin board for her fourth graders announced in big letters "Green Geckos Want World Peace". In other words, she has been almost completely dumbed down and indoctrinated by the local college of education but a few glimmers of her Bible Belt values emerged from time to time, as in her crippled "Bless America" message. Her manner of dress and speech told me she was from the heartland but her classroom art told me she had swallowed whole the NEA's left-wing agenda. It may dawn on this youngish teacher eventually that Christianity and the New Age aren't reconcilable. Or it may not. Fortunately she's not my child's teacher or there would never be peace.
Yes. We have communications as an elective. Quite common in the area's high schools. They do a daily school news show, tape the football games, concerts, plays, etc. Sometimes they are broadcast on a local cabel channel that is designated for the school. The equipment was donated by the cable company.
Just remember there running behind the Flag. Using it to keep the light of truth from shining on them. And will go back to there old ways when they think weve turned the light off. we need to keep them running right out of power.
All:
Its good to read all the replies here. Makes you feel theres hope. But it sounds like those that responded are from the Red W Backbone of the country. Any from the Blue gore zone ?
A friend taught science in an Oakland school for a while. The students were not well self-disciplined in class. Finally the teacher decided to bring a US flag to school to help instill a sense of group moral obligation to something larger than the individual and help remind the students to behave. However, the school was on a tight budget. The teacher didn't want to exceed the budget so the flag was set aside. Later on the teacher decided to put it up on the office wall. A couple of days later the director came up to the teacher and said to take it down, saying that people had been streaming into her office complaining that it had been put up in a common school work area (she made it clear that using it for instructional purposes as part of the curriculum was OK). Apparently it was what policies the flag was being used to symbolize which caused the objections. The teacher took the hint and took the flag down and away from the school immediately.
How do they start sporting events?
Here everybody stands, faces the Flag. As the National Anthem is being performed.
I really didnt need to ask.
