She's lost her mind over the last two years, but I think she's right this time. If we're going to achieve energy independence, it's going to take more than just drilling ANWR and the Gulf Coast. That's a stopgap solution.

Eventually, we're going to have to use fuel more efficiently, and then probably find other efficient ways to run our vehicles. Sept. 11 is the event that will ultimately force an American energy revolution, thus putting oil in the gutter (it's already headed there, and OPEC's whining is music to my ears). Once the oil is no longer profitable, the whole Middle East will turn into a desert full of camel-herders.

Bet Atta wasn't thinking of that when he hit the WTC with the plane.

The UN Council on Global Climate Change has recently cited Arianna as one of the leading causes of global warming, claiming that the profuse amounts of hot air that are emitted from her are of serious concern.

Frankly, saying hasta la vista to my 13 mpg Navigator and hello to a 23 mpg Volvo V70 station wagon is hardly a sacrifice.

Hmmm, not so patriotic as to buy an American gas-sipping car, eh, Adrianna? Oh, that's right, there aren't any American status symbol luxury station wagons. She's a phony and a snob, IMO.

The worst offenders are the Congresscritters and the elite including but not limited to the media. When all these mush brains are driving fuel efficient vehicles I may take some notice of the rantings.

This may come as a shock, but we can dig for fuel. It is there. It won't decimate the landscape, this isn't 1930 when they dug up the west and beautified it with crickets. The politicians and the greens who won't let this happen, including my own Jeb Bush, are not thinking ahead. We must become energy sufficient, and we can.

At least we can reduce our dependency to managable proportions, buy from nations other than the Arabs, and save ourselves from the threat of blackmail in the form of shortages and super high prices. This should have been done after Carter left office. Does anybody remember the oil mess during his administration?

What's the fuss about SUVs? People think NY does not have enough victims we need to fabricate more at their expense? Liberals do need to get a real life, I mean a reaaaaaaal significant f$cking life and get off the back of those who work and contribute to the garden of eden.

On average, SUVs consume over 6 miles per gallon more than a family station wagon.

THERE ARE NO FAMILY STATION WAGONS ANYMORE.

Thanks to CAFE rules, and idiotic thinking like that of Queen Arianna, station wagons were regulated out of the market, and replaced with SUVs, in perhaps the most perfect example of unintended consequences.

You can tell she isn't American, this is European thinking, this is U.N. thinking. Americans don't regress, we progress. We fix problems by creating a better mouse trap, not sitting on the curb crying over our automobiles, or smoke and mirrors oil shortages. The days of the combustion engine will be replaced by a better way, when it becomes crutial for us to do so.

Arianna Huffington is an idiot. She probably consumes more fuel (thru flying) than 90% of the American people she is trying to lecture. You ain't the national mommy, Arianna. What a doltz. The worst thing is, most sheeple think she's a spokesman for the right.

Given that our ability to play hardball with nations that harbor terrorists is going to be seriously compromised by our foreign oil habit, shouldn't we be doing everything we can to reduce that dependence -- starting, say, yesterday?

Will a general reduction reduce our dependence...without making domestic production relatively more profitable. The prices are as they are, not out of demand outstripping natural levels of supply, but out of supply being intentionally reduced to support current prices. If prices were to fall, which would be expected if demand were to drop, domestic production would drop faster. We'd do more by reducing domestic costs, such as from taxes, than we would by reducing demand.

Where reducing demand pays off is on the environmental front: Meeting EPA regulations for pollution, and existing with current refinery capability.

Where abandoning SUVs has a cost, is in human life. CAFE standards, which SUVs evade by using truck suspensions, are estimated to cost around 2,000 lives a year. SUVs are common primarily because of government meddling - so they need to meddle some more to fix it?

"But now we're at war, right?

Yes Arianna, you dunce, thats why anyone who takes their Second Amendment responsibility seriously will ensure that they do have one, and maybe an ATV, dirtbike or horse also.

Why she ever held any measure of respect amongst conservatives, Ill never know...

Liberals will not be happy, until all Americans (except them) live in a grass hut, and eat a vegitarian diet. My advice to those nosy Liberal do-gooders is don't hold your breath!

Its true that alot people driving SUVs never leave the pavement and never haul anything but there are many that use them for their intended purpose of which there is no substitute. Try loading a 1000 pounds of fertilizer in some yuppie Volvo or enough gear for a family of five to go camping in the woods for a week. My turkey frier alone would fill up half of the back of a volvo wagon.

Why do they make sports cars that can go 150+ miles per hour for that matter? I don't see the liberals jumping down the auto manufacturers throats every time someone wraps a Corvette or Porsche around a telephone pole but yet they go after semi auto firearms because they have a higher capacity. I'd like to see the statistics of deaths due to driving at excessive speeds in sports cars vs. deaths involving the use of semi auto "assault" style weapons. Why does the government allow cars to be sold that knowingly can do double the national speed limit? Yet they nitpick over a weapon having a 10 round capacity. Doesn't the ability to drive 150 mph entice the driver to test the abilities of the automobile thereby enticing the driver to break the law?

Can't afford an SUV, nor definitely the gas.
So I'll take my little Corolla, and get there just as fast.
