They are the civil rights equivalents of undercover agents. Carefully trained but armed only with false identities, they set out on the day's mission: rooting out racism at a grimy apartment building in North Hills.

"I don't consider it the malicious kind of white racism we see against people of color," Smith said. "It seems to be more of a cultural preference. . . . But it's still illegal."

This line here says it all. It's only racism if it's white people doing it to people of color. I recently had the opportunity to work at a site in Miami that had 3 major ethnic groups for employees, none of which were white. I never saw such backbiting racists in my life as I saw in that building. Individuals from each group would tell me in private why the people in the next ethnic group were nasty. That contract provided a good education for this naive SD boy.

So the new buzzphrase for minorities that don't prefer people that aren't of the same race is "cultural preference" but if it's done by someone white it's racism.

That duck don't float.

Housing advocates say the bias among foreign-born landlords can reflect outright racism, but may also stem from ignorance of the law. Activists in immigrant communities say landlords might feel more comfortable renting to people who share their language and culture.

"I don't consider it the malicious kind of white racism we see against people of color," Smith said. "It seems to be more of a cultural preference. . . . But it's still illegal."

Once again the LA Times, has discovered only whites can be considered 'racist', while everyone else has 'cultural preferences'. What a bunch of a**-clowns!

LA should changes it's name to Los Balkins.

Housing agencies do not track discrimination cases by the landlord's nationality...

So they'll probably report it as white people locking out blacks.

Well we know that hispanics can only be a victim group, they suddenly are white when they are the perpetrators.

This is nuts, we all know that down trodden, noble, minorities do not discriminate against each other and can not possibly have a prejudice bone in their bodies.

What is even more amusing is the fact that in many cases here in Los Angeles, whites are now the victims of reverse discrimination. I see it on a daily basis. Most of the ethnic groups here will always give preference to someone from their own race or home country. This occurs on every level from retail sales clerks, fast food establishments, to real estate. Several years ago a family of Koreans who was selling their home in what I would describe as an ethnically mixed neighborhood, listed their home with a Korean real estate company, and the home was only shown to Koreans. When a friend of mine who is white inquired about the home, the selling agent made 3 appointments with him, but never showed up to show him the home. Just over the past weekend I was in a large retail automotive parts store, which is staffed 100% by hispanics. I waited at the counter and noticed that the hispanic customers who arrived after I did, were helped before me. When I complained to the manager, he just shrugged his shoulders and said I must be mistaken, and that he would try and watch the counter to see if their was anything going on.

There is no such thing as reverse discrimination - it either is or is not. Reverse discrimination would be non-descrimination.

Still more evidence that "diversity" is really a catch phrase for anything that's not white, male, educated, successful, wealthy, and Republican...

We have the same thing here.

It's a group called HOME. Housing Opporunities Made Equal.

They run sting operations and they go after every type of discrimination from single mothers to gays.

They have claimed some victories in their newsletter but it seems very few to justify their efforts.

But then, I'm sure they believe they are doing the work of angles.

I am so sick and tired of you nit-pickers, who don't read anything for content, just for perceived errors. The term "reverse discrimination" has been around for a long time, and implies that that those who may have practiced discrimination in the past, are now being discriminated against. Go back to reading your latest copy of "English & Grammer Quarterly," and ignore my replies in the future.

Sanctimonious racism on the part of the authorities, who see only whites as capable of forming the "malicious" intent to be racist. In their viewpoint, nonwhites are essentially incompetent to be racist, like Down's Syndrome kids who mouth the "n" word without understanding what it means.

Mi casa es su casa

A Mexican idiom intended to place an "INVITED AND TEMPORARY GUEST" at ease while in your home.

The Illegal aliens in this country are not invited guests and should be made as temporary in this country as possible.
