To all who contributed stories, tales, anecdotes, and reminiscences: thank you. It's this human dimension that makes this holiday more than just a day off work. And nowhere is the spirit of sacrifice and duty more apparent than in our fighting forces.
I'm going to call it a day. But by all means, keep the stories coming. I'm sure others will enjoy them as much as I do.
Happy Thanksgiving everybody.

Isn't there something called "boxing day" that's celebrated around this time of year? Boxing day is the day after Christmas. Basically, an excuse to take another day off to help recover from Christmas eating. There are a number of traditions originating from England on this day.
I understand one regiment has a tradition where on Boxing day officers change ranks with the enlisted. With promises of no repercussions after the boxing day swap.

We sent a tray back for the Marines standing watch in the Embassy. Its always good to hear blokes in the services looking out for each other. Especially at times when its hard to be away from home.
