Gephardt Fined
Dick Peter, Staff Writer
Ozark Zenith

Ozarks, Nov 23, 2001 (Ozark Zenith) – Democratic minority leader Dick Gephardt is on holiday with his family at his home in the Ozarks. All are celebrating Thanksgiving in normal fashion at the vacation spot.

The weather was spring like on Wednesday whereupon a game of golf was arranged. Mr. Gephardt would be playing on one of his favorite courses, at the Lake Furze C.C., during the afternoon.

The police report on Wednesday indicates that Mr. Gephardt was seen in a cave on the third hole and reported to the local authorities. They in turn referred the matter to a MO. State Ranger who arrived to find Mr. Gephardt teeing off from the fourth hole.

Further investigation of the cave in question provided a cigarette butt on the cave floor.

After examining Mr. Gephardt the State Ranger found conclusive evidence that he had been smoking and pursuant to state law immediate ticketed him for lighting up in a smoke-free cave.

Awaiting further details.

To Tumbleweed_Connection: Gee,I'd love to believe that this really happened, but then I'd be just as dumb as Jonathan Alter when he congratulated Don Imus(on the air)for getting the first interview with Lizzie Grubman!!!

If I couldn't smoke while playing golf, I would probably be left with only a putter in my bag, with the rest of my clubs scattered evenly amongst the ponds and wooded areas that inhabit the courses in my area. Come to think of it, my putter would be missing as well.

The point is that now they're telling you that not only you can't smoke in public, but in your own damn house!

I hear ya. But at least I don't lose balls then spend an untold amount of time hopelessly searching for them when I use my putter.
