"Libertarianize the GOP"

Isn't the Republican Liberty Caucus an effort at creating a hybred of the two parties?

I think so...

...the christian taliban...

from my naive view point, there are two parts to the libertarian party. those conservatives who tend to believe in a god and who want to limit govnerment. these folks are to the right of the stupid party, but could live with it as an alternative. the evil party would attract those who have atheistic tendencies and want freedoms to live life as they wish -- the rest of society be damned.

christian laws were instilled to bring order to society in old testament times. the principal and the civil and moral laws are as good today as they were then. they were meant to protect us from each other. anyone that does not want these laws apparently has other intentinos.

the taliban has instilled a bunch of ritual laws onto its people. christians know that the ritual law defined in the old testament was done away with christ's death on the cross. we are free from the ritual laws. we must live by the moral and civil law, but we are forgiven if we fail in the moral law.

your statement is not only inflamatory, but it is theologically incorrect. please educate yourself and learn some manners.

"Listen up all you dope, porn, and sodomy defending libertarians."

The buck stops here Kevin. Your GOP is putting your favorite sodomists into government appointments.

Honestly, you haven't left us with much of a choice: a Hillary style nanny state or a Kevin Curry one. I'm not sure of which I would choose!!!

This should be funny. I am especially amazed by Kevin Kurry - he seems to have some pearl script running which allerts him to any libertarian thread.

Kevin doesn't have a Perl script, he is a Perl script.

Here's your chance to talk some sense the thread and the forum:

Would you please define all the folowing terms in basic sentences?

LP=pro abortion LP=pro homosexuality LP=pro legalized drugs LP=anti govt. LP=anti Christian LP=LIBERAL

What does "pro abortion" mean? Is it some one less extreme than Eric Rudoph, or is it someone who convinces women everywhere to get abortions as often as possible?

What does "Pro homosexulaity" mean? Is it someone who is actively participating in homosexuality and recruits others or is it a heterosexual that doesn't seek to find out what the neighbors across the street are doing in bed, and if they do find out, don't call the cops on them?

I think you've got the idea.

Next, would you please quote us the part of the Libertarian platform that proves your point?

Honestly, I don't think either of you will accept this challenge. But it's there for your to prove your accusations. Will you do it?

Once upon a time alcohol was marketed in accordance with libertarian principles -- no drinking age, no advertising restrictions, anyone could sell it etc. -- all in accordance with enlightened self-interest.

Tht enlightened self-interest managed to create a situation in which alcohol was so vilified that its opponents managed to actually get a CONSTUTIONAL AMENDMENT -- the hardest piece of legislation to pass in our nation requiring super majority votes in congress and amonst the state legislatures -- banning the sale and manufacturing of booze.

Once upon a time, cigarettes were also marketed in accordance with libertarian principles. The success of that marketing managed to get two-thirds of Americans smoking by the mid-1960s. This libertarian principle of enlightened self-interest created a situation in which tobacco is so vilified that governement officials feel safe in intruding on our homes, businesses and even our family life claiming concens about our health.

I have a lot of sympathy for libertarians and I think Milt Friedman is the smartest man in American. BUT their philosophy, uncut, has a damning, self-destructive internal logic which not even the most faithful libertarian can live by.

LP=pro abortion LP=pro homosexuality LP=anti govt. LP=LIBERAL You could replace LP with GOP in these examples and say the same thing, it seems.

The GOP list:

GOP=anti abortion in words only and only to a minority in the party
GOP=appoints homosexuals to positions of power
GOP=anti some drugs and vices
GOP=pro govt.
GOP=pro non-descrimination even though that trumps christian morals
GOP=DNC not so fast

San Miguel County Coroner Robert Dempsey recently switched to the Libertarian Party to protest U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft's assault on the Oregon "Death with Dignity" law - a measure twice approved by that state's voters.

This is what makes people realize they should join the Libertarian party. Not a propensity for drugs of any kind.

I don't allow drugs of any kind in my home or on my property. And that includes alcohol and tobaco. But notice I said " in my home or on my property. You can decide for yourself about your home and your property.

I tried for a long time to be a good Republican. But the Republicans backed a local ordince for an extra territrial zone around our city that gave the city a power of governmenment over people who could not vote in city elections.

Then they backed an ordinance that outlawed smoking in privately owned restaurants. And on and on and on.

If you vote for a Libertarian it is possible that you might theoretically help put a socialist in office unintentionally.

If you vote for a GOP candidate it is almost always a sure thing.
