I find this very curious. Smallpox vaccine has been around for a LONG time - far longer than the MCR-5 cell line. Why is it necessary to make a vaccine from this line?

Money.

They 'own' that cell line and will be compensated for every vaccine dose which contains traces of that line.

Politics.

If pro-aborts can turn the people around on the purported 'benefits' of using the bodies of aborted children, they may regain much of the ground they lost during the partial birth abortion debates.
