In regards to Islam, this is a religion/philosophy, and is not entitled to respect if it is not worthy of such. You cannot compare it to skin color.

I want to be open minded about Islam, but you just don't see Christians, Jews, Hindus, Budhists continually attack innocents in the name of their religion in the manner that we see OVER AND OVER again with Muslims.

I'm personally disturbed by the lack of compassion for hispanics and other immigrants by some (especially "social") conservatives, who claim to be Christians. Most Christians I know care deeply for other people, but it seems some on FR are a different breed altogether.

I think, and I include myself in this group, most conservative have NO problem at all with immigrants who come here LEGALLY. True, some don't want any "non European" immigrants. Most conservatives have problems with ILLEGAL immigrants and the left condoning and encouraging it, and rewarding those who are here illegally like they would someone here legally.

I don't care where you come from if you come here legally. When you break the law to get here is when I have a problem.

Sure why not? Not that I do, but we are allowed to have opinions. I dislike all people who don't beleive in liberty. I dislike all people who are moral relativsts. If the teachings of Islam are so offensive to someone, it's their right to dislike those who practice it. Freedom of thought. :)

You know, I'm sick of hearing people feign racism. At some point it gets to be like the boy who cried wolf one too many times. Some day soon, when someone cries "racism" people are going to just say, "ya, right..."

Interesting. I think it's ok for you to not like them but I would then wonder about why you beleive that everyone who practices it goes for all of the literal teachings. It would be the same as thinking that Christians still stone their adultresses or any of the other older beliefs that have been chucked but are still in the Bible. There are various types of people who study and believe in Islam but from what I know most are not as extreme so I wonder what kind of person just lumps them into the same category..

I never knew anything about Islam until after 9/11. From what I have learned, it celebrates what happened to the "infidels" on 9/11. I consider it to be a cult that has more than a "few guys" willing to do evil against my country. Read the link above, read a lot of it. See if you think that Islam is some nice, gentle "religion". That it's followers are nothing but robots.

The same could be said for all religions. Mindless robots following ancient books written by men. I guess I know to much about the real lives of many Islamic people living in America to believe that most are these extremist. Why would there be so many here without prior incidents of violence in a land that goes against so many of their morals if they weren't into the live and let live kind of philosophy?

That's a cute generalization but according to some of the high minded self virtue enhancing denunciations of FReepers as "racists" being tossed about here....your comment could as well be considered "racist" even though it was meant complimentary.

I'm trying to be like that now. I am aware that right or wrong is based on your own set of morals and beliefs but it's so hard to keep from judging others.
