Interesting....I have speculated before (though I was soundly rebuked my most of my friends) that the terrorists actually did not expect the towards to completely collapse, but may have only anticipated killing a few hundred or a thousand people. I wonder now if that may actually be the case...they may have actually soiled their undergarments when they saw the towers fall, because that would have removed any doubts that there'd be a decisive response rather than some meaningless symbolic cruise missile strike.

I've thought that too. Consider the effect on American morale if the buildings had not been collapsed but were damaged to the point that they had to be dynamited.

A decision on whether to release information on the newly discovered tape is in the hands of presidential counselor Karen Hughes, according to a senior official familiar with the situation.

Shortly after the September terrorist attacks, President Bush gave Hughes the task of managing the White House information flow on the Afghan war. Hughes heads a special White House-based public relations operation that the United States and Britain began early last month to win international public support, particularly in the Islamic world, for the anti-terrorist campaign.

The public relations group has been concerned with the lack of U.S. credibility in the Muslim world, and recent discussions about release of the tape have focused on how to get Arab audiences to believe its contents – something that might not happen if Washington was the source of the release.

I don't think these terrorists ever, in their wildest dreams, expected the towers to collapse . . . burn, yes, death and suffering, yes, but never the total collapse. It's like that old commercial showing a start-up online ordering company . . . the orders start coming in faster and faster . . . at first everyone's excited, then, as the pace picks up, there is a sudden realization of fear . . . a realization that they'll never be able to fill all the orders. That's what Osama experienced, I believe . . . a big grin that gradually turned to a fearful frown as he realized what would result from his unexpected "success".

There were blasts heard in and out of the building as stated by firemen. So that question is still out there and the photos seem to show that. I would hook up to cable again just to see OBL admit it. lol (dang tv I hate it)
