LONDON -- Lonely hearts looking for love through a British dating agency had better make sure their roses are red and their commitment is to the cause.

Socialist Partners bills itself as the only dating agency in Britain to link would-be lovers by political persuasion.

Peter Shaw, who owns the agency in Bradford, said it did not discriminate against anyone -- except those to the right of center.

"I don't turn people away for age, disability or color," Shaw told Reuters.

"I don't turn people away unless they have the wrong politics. I would turn them away if they were Conservatives."

It was set up a decade ago for left-wingers branded trouble-makers by conventional agencies that are more used to delving into hobbies, hair colors and horoscopes.

Socialist Partners, which says it has been responsible for at least 25 marriages, is one of the cheapest agencies in the country at only $100 a year -- 10 times cheaper than some other matchmakers.

But the agency has moved with the times, broadening its client base to allow in a few Liberal Democrats.

"We accept all left-wing people from center-left to far left. I've even got a few Liberal Democrats. That's about as far as I go," Shaw said.

"It's not something we think is relevant," said a spokeswoman from the Dating Agency, a mainstream matchmaker.

Kate Corbett, whose Club Sirius seeks to attract "professional, career-minded people," said it steered clear of those with vehement politics.

"People who have very strong political views usually tend to find their partners within those groups," Corbett said. "If someone rang up and said they only wanted to meet socialists, I would suggest they found new friends through that organization."

"...oh god. they're breeding!..."

It's not quite as bad as it sounds...

As in the case of all vermin, they tend to eat (or, in this case, 'abort') a significant fraction of their young.

I'm all in favor of liberals having as many abortions as they want.

Figures! The Socialists can't even go out and get a date for themselves, they expect someone else to do it for them!

I was being a little flip, abortion is a great evil.

I would prefer the measurably lesser evil of living in a society that went a little mad ...Just once... and rounded up liberals, detained them in camps and sterilized them.

THAT is a breach of liberty and the everyday rule of law that I could live with quite easily.

I still think liberals should have abortions--early and often. By the way, a slogan along this line could have reverse psychological effects.

" I would turn them away if they were Conservatives"?

What Conservative would ever go to that outfit for a date in the first place?

Marriages made in hell! They're not "made for each other", they DESERVE each other!
