If this is a real quote we might just be able to get some peace in our time.

That's the kind of Mid-East mediator I like.
I think it is time for Zinni to replace Powell.

Gotta love it. It takes career diplomats a lifetime to figure this out (and most never do). It takes a former Marine less than a week on the job to come to a conclusion that the most people already know.

"I have never encountered such lack of trustworthiness in my life." I guess he has never talked to a Clinton.

Zinni certainly did NOT utter this publicly. He may have said it privately, though the rather sparse news item gave no indication of how they came to know about this. I can't give this report much credence.

Is this the Jewish version of Debka?
I find it fairly improbable that the General would have said this.
If he did, he has no business being over there.

"I have never encountered such lack of trustworthiness in my life." Someone explain to me how for near 40 years people always have to independently come to the same conclusion. You would think the news would spread.

I would not be surprised if the people in the PA that Zinni approaches soon wind up in the obituary column. Arafat has gone to considerable effort to keep himself "irreplaceable", including eliminating people spoken of as a potential replacement for him.

I wonder what toasted arapigFAT taste.

well hey just because its not the most reliable source.Remember a truck full of something blew up just before Zinni's convoy got to Ramallah. That may have shaken up his confidence in Arafat to do anything.I say its about time we dump the guy.Don't know if they have any better leaders but it seems to me in 30 years Arafat has not brought peace for his peoples.

American mediator Gen. Anthony Zinni, who met with Yasser Arafat yesterday, said about him, "I have never encountered such lack of trustworthiness in my life." And the man went as he was told and washed the mud away and discovered that his sight had been restored!

"I have never encountered such lack of trustworthiness in my life." Bravo, Mr. Zini! This may not be very diplomatic of him but how refreshing for us --- to see such candor in diplomatic circles. Well, sir, you are a true General!

Zinni, the next Lamborgini of policy. :-)
To: veronica
Is this the same Zinni who just days ago was kissing Arafat's wrinkled old posterior?
