SAN FRANCISCO (AP) Environmental groups sued the U.S. Forrest Service and the U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Anne Veneman over cattle gazing along the North Fork Eel River in Northern California.

The Center for Biological Diversity and the Environmental Protection Information Center filed the suit Monday in the U.S. District Court. It seeks to stop cattle grazing in the river corridor.

I suppose that cows and algae are not "biologicaly diverse" enough for these people. Only species that can help them gain control of land from productive ranchers are worth saving for these leeches.

There are five grazing allotments along a stretch of the river corridor. The groups contend that cows cross the river, causing algae blooms and impair the water quality and fish habitat.

I've been kayaking on the North Fork Eel. It is a beautiful clear little river with very few signs of human or stock animal habitation. I even drank from the side streams without purifying and had no ill effects. Accessing the river is very difficult, though, because the property owners/residents discourage it as much as they can and generally have a reputation for being rather unfriendly.

The worst part is that under the Leftist policies of our government, we taxpayers get to foot the bill of these groups for filing the suit. Anyone think that this policy might encourage lawsuits, but then I guess that is the whole objective of the lefties that put the policy in place.
