'All the Way' is heading the list, certainly of the more serious songs. If I had time, at the moment, I'd be more than glad to research further, as in the Top 10 Profound, Top 10 Light'n Breezy, Top 10 Swingin', Top 10 Schmaltzy but FUN! etc...

Ah, that Summer Wind... my fickle friend, the Summer Wind.

Depend on Ol' Blue Eyes to get ya right in the heart every time.

"Summer Wind"

The summer wind, came blowin' in - from across the sea

It lingered there, so warm and fair - to walk with me

All summer long, we sang a song - and strolled on golden sand

Two sweethearts, and the summer wind

Like painted kites, those days and nights - went flyin' by

The world was new, beneath a blue - umbrella sky

Then softer than, a piper man - one day it called to you

And I lost you, to the summer wind

The autumn wind, and the winter wind - have come and gone

And still the days, those lonely days - go on and on

And guess who sighs his lullabies - through nights that never end

My fickle friend, the summer wind

'All the Way' is a prime example of how Frank could "own" a lyric. He had a delivery second to none!

Have you seen the Salon comparison of the original "Ocean's 11" to the sequel? It sounds like something you would have written!

I lived in California during the Rat Pack heyday. One evening my husband, and another couple were going into a small Italian restaurant (very popular with the Hollywood crowd) on a side street in Beverly Hills. The only persons on the street was us and Dino walking up to the door. He was in front of us and my husband said, "Hi Dino", he turned big smile, waved hello. The restaurant was crowded so we had to stand shoulder to shoulder with him in the doorway to wait for a seat at the bar. He was so down to earth, and friendly. Everyone was waving and speaking to him.

And I was surprised by his looks. I loved his humor and singing and all, but I didn't go nuts over him; yet he was much more handsome, much taller and much more athletic looking than what I had seen in movies and t.v. A very nice guy.

I bet. My feeling is the new film is endsville, baby. I've told my pallies I'll only go see it if I can get loaded on JD beforehand so I can taunt and rip the movie while I see it. But they'd probably ask me to leave. Still might be a gasser!

The ultimate and most devastating example of a Sinatra-Jenkins collaboration, I swear this song could flatten every mountain in Afghanistan...

I'm a Fool to Want You

I'm a fool to want you
I'm a fool to want you
To want a love that can't be true
A love that's there for others too

I'm a fool to hold you
Such a fool to hold you
To seek a kiss not mine alone
To share a kiss the Devil has known

Time and time again I said I'd leave you
Time and time again I went away
But then would come the time when I would need you
And once again these words I'd have to say

I'm a fool to want you
Pity me, I need you
I know it's wrong, it must be wrong
But right or wrong I can't get along
Without you

Time and time again I said I'd leave you
Time and time again I went away
But then would come the time when I would need you
And once again these words I'd have to say

Take me back, I love you
Pity me, I need you
I know it's wrong, it must be wrong
But right or wrong I can't get along...

...Without you

Great post! Frankie wasn't "one of the all-time greats". He was the GREATEST! They didn't call him THE Voice for nada.

I know Christ has risen. When did Frank pull this off and did the mafia have a hand in it?

Great job Stone!...Frankie is my all time favorite, he represents everything a REAL MAN should have...class,elegance,charisma,nonchalance.
And his songs...brilliant! At times when I am in the dumps, all I have to do is poor myself some Jack (my favored and his favored also), turn up the volume and forget about everything. He had this attitude of "happy go lucky kinda guy" wich is very contagious and makes you feel to do the same.
Happy B-Day Ol'Blue Eyes!
