You all deserve a standing ovation for courage under fire!

I learned something today, besides the fact that hellinahandcart is a most talented artist:

Garlic is used to ward off vampires
A cross to ward off the devil
Our Stars & Stripes to ward off commie leftist traitors.

Suggestion: It sounds like you guys were essentially heckling the speaker. Most events such as this conclude with a Q&A session. At that point the speaker's made his points and you can legitmately expect the speaker to have to answer a polite questioning of the views presented.

I think you guys should have waited out the speech then pounced. FReepers at many events including those secured by the secret service are given prime spots because we are known for our law-abiding and courteous protest methods. See DC Chapter FReep Rules for reference. They make sense.

Having said that you folks showed great bravery going into a basement full of Rats!

We need to get a higher turn out than this before we physically take on these @#$%^&*'s. Three against 300 is poor odds.

Now, now. We were not there to physically take on the @#$%^&*'s, so three was plenty (especially since Nitro is such a big strong tall fellow). We were there to give them a little stomach acid, that's all. To let them know that some people are catching on to them. We knew we were going to get thrown out eventually. That's also why I don't consider the shoving to be charge-worthy (when you try to provoke a reaction, and you get one, well...).

Now, if we'd had a few more people, we could have done a two-stage disruption and still left one person in there to record the whole presentation. But the second disruption might have escalated the mood in a bad direction. These people are zealots even if they're not prime physical specimens.

OTOH, let us acknowlege that at least *some* of the people there were honorable opponents. Afterall, they did return the flag and the hat.

You got the hat and our flag back. There's hope for a couple of people that were in there.

I may get flamed for this but I think many people in there are gentle, well-meaning souls who really believe and practice the "brotherhood" aspects of their movement. Others are disaffected freaks who've finally found a place to "belong". That's powerful psychological stuff. They are seriously deluded, however, and blind to what the world would really be like if they finally got what they're after. And they've all been misled by conscious manipulators at the core of this group.

But yes, I think they also thought giving us our stuff back was the right thing to do.

Otherwise you were in the middle of a bunch of commies.

We knew that. :P

You're crazy!

Yeah, I know. mr. hellinahandcart was NOT a happy camper when he found out what I was doing on Thursday night. (sigh)

Agree. Will see you tonight? We need to plan.

Dave - agree we need to plan - unfortunetly I have to coach 8-9 year old Basketball this afternoon and then go to a work function (I missed last year's Christmass party because I stayed too long at "Cheney's House";-) - Please send my regards to the D.C. Chapter - we did "good" this year and everyone feels like an extended family to me. - One of the other Daves in our bunch (Leadpenny too).

Dave, you can count on me, to organize what I can in February up here, but getting some people to move, is easier said then done...NY Freepers need to get up and FREEP!
