One of the problems with a free and open society is that we let people like you live. What's wrong with you?! OK so you don't like Lord of the Rings, does that mean you have to jump on LOTR threads (that are clearly obvious because they have Lord of the Rings in the title) and act like a jerk? You know I see threads about things I don't like all over FR, you know what I do? I don't click on them. Let people have their entertainment, and if that's not your entertainment the SHUT UP.

And now the picture is not working. It was on a Geocities site, so I guess we can't expect much.

Thanks for the ping. The countdown for me and the wife to see it is 32 hours. Not bad considering the countdown started at 3+ years. Elendil! Elendil!

I hardly think your money is hard-earned. I have a feeling that you have never seen a true days work in your meager life. Your choice of a FR screen name does more to indicate your shallow nature than any of the drivel that you opt to post. I would be among the first to support your right to post such drivel, but, now that you you have, please retire back to the anti-anti's board and playu matches and gasoline with your friends.

WHAT????

Look seriously I understand that babies are killed everyday, and I understand that it is wrong, but good grief, this is the FOTR we're talking about here. Tolkien, Frodo Baggins, Gandalf!!

You might want to think about moving your bed away from the wall, if you're in the habit of getting up on the wrong side.

I know, time flies, but Casablanca was not made in that period --- maybe thirteen or fourteen years ago...

LOL...try 1942...

The orcs and Black Riders are very scary. The youngest boys will love it, the youngest girls will probably be terrified. There are a couple of very gorgeous and girly sequences, but mostly dark battles and "Frodo in peril" sequences.

The three hours fly.

Yes, thanks for the advice! Now all I have to do is figure out how to deflect my 10-year-old niece (and friend) to another movie without causing major hurt feelings...

Hey Tabby, can I bring some poor, neglected animals to the movie when I go? And of course I would pay full price for them as to give Hollywood MORE of my money so they can continue their practices. Maybe I should start a thread about poor, sick animals and what a great time they had at this Hollywood extraviganza. Then you could really go off on your anti-rants. Enough sarcasm, I've wasted enough bytes on you.

You know, it may be a lot better in the long run to let them see it, prepared to cover their eyes from time to time...they'll have warning (since this is a properly done film in the classic sense, with respect for the audience)...than for them to see one of the perverted, boring, iconoclast, sarcastic, destructive movies around, rather than this honest piece of authentic, though fantasy, fiction. It is a legit world, with real, human-like (inside) characters...representative of the old and rural world. I hereby modify (as I suspected I would) my previous age caution, and recommend bringing hands which fit over eyes, and a readiness to use them. The violence is appropriate, not regailed in or drawn out, rubbed in, made worse, or stretched to make up for no plot or production values. It is a valid and breathtakingly beautiful world to imagine being in, and the heroes mostly live...and one's brain and feelings aren't manipulated for devious or mysterious Hollywood purposes. Remember, this is great literature, and it stands up.
