The settlements are illegal. The Palestinians are not going to stop until Israel gives them up and shares Jerusalem.
The accords make that perfectly clear. Sharon was ill-advised to make a scene and the world need not be held hostage. Could the Palestinians stop the bloodshed? No. The anger and resentment is too deep and the propoganda war was won many years ago. Barak recognized that. Peres recognizes that.
