"Orthodox" should be used in place of "conservative".

I was strongly tempted to use that term, but thought that this could easily lead to confusion with our Orthodox church brethren, which is why I didn't use it. On your other point, which basically is that the church is 'One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic', to coin a phrase, I agree, but knew that the author would consider this tendentious, which is why I did not say it. I think that you and I are coming from the same place.

Oh, we're definitely coming from the same place - sorry I didn't make that more clear. Good point about the Orthodox Church as well.

Who are you referring to as "the author"? If you mean me, then why did you think I would find that idea tendentious? Do you think that because I posted an article from a particular publication that I have the same viewpoint as that publication? Do you assume that every FReeper who posts an article from the New York Times or Washington Post speaks for those publications? You accuse me of potentially causing scandal, but you show no concern in spreading false assumptions about me. You don't know me, yet you somehow "knew" I would find a basic truth of the Catholic faith tendentious.
