AIDS Activist Undergoes Liver Transplant Surgery

PITTSBURGH -- AIDS activist, author and playwright Larry Kramer underwent liver transplant surgery and was listed in serious condition Monday.

Kramer's doctors said his condition was improving and was about where it should be after the 12-hour surgery Friday.

Kramer, 66, spent seven months on the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center's waiting list. He moved to Pittsburgh in early November to wait for an organ to become available. While many transplant centers oppose the surgery for HIV-positive patients, UPMC's Thomas E. Starzl Transplantation Institute has performed 10 liver transplants on HIV-positive patients since 1997. Eight of the patients have survived. Kramer's HIV has been relatively well controlled, but he suffered from end-stage liver failure caused by hepatitis B.

What is the connection between homosexuals and hepatitus,

Hepatitis B and C are spread by contaminated body fluids. Co-infection is common. Hep C and HIV co-infection is often the result of IV drug use.

and what is the difference between hep B and hep C?

Hepatitis is inflammation of the liver. Hep B and Hep C are two of several viruses that cause hepatitis.

"...Your "plan" for two separate nations makes you a first-class nut case..."

Your peculiar inability to 'just let go' forces me to conclude that you're sweet on me...

(Which leaves me hoping that you're a female).

Unfortunately (for you) I've currently got a wife, and there's another woman who has 'dibs' on me if my wife dies.

Nevertheless, you're welcome to take your place in line behind them if you like.

I will need a complete description, photograph and maintenance log of any recreational vehicle you own. A desirable RV won't allow you to cut ahead in line, but it can prevent you from being 'bumped' in the future.

XXX OOO (unless you’re a guy, of course)

"While many transplant centers oppose the surgery for HIV-positive patients, UPMC's Thomas E. Starzl Transplantation Institute has performed 10 liver transplants on HIV-positive patients since 1997."

This is the madness of the whole AIDS scam. If you are tested positive for harmless antibodies to the HIV virus which itself has never been shown to cause immune suppression you are refused treatment for your REAL condition.

How many people would be alive today it they had been given treatment for actual conditions instead of so called AIDS.

AIDS is an invention of the gay AIDS charities and liberal media.

"...I suggest that you look up irrational and hypocrite in the dictionary (big book with lots of words). I am not complimenting you...By the way, I am a happily married man..."

Well, Bo peep, whether you be man, woman or a curious mixture of the two, you have a peculiar inability to comprehend when your (yawn, bored) audience is goofing on you.

I'll bet money, marbles or chalk that your wife rolls her eyes a lot.

Nyah... I don't believe that.

"...Were you goofing when you posted your idiotic plan for a divided America?..."

No, of course not. And you're not even getting that right. I don't envisage a divided America Peep, I envisage an America made whole again and divested of closet liberals like you.

I would never sign an organ donor card. I have personally experienced the pressure to take a loved one off life support by drs. who could not wait to get to her organs. If she had signed an organ donation card that pressure would have been much worse. If I donate it will be to a relative or it will be a decision made by a relative to the surprise of the drs. I don't want them knowing ahead of time.

I have a friend who is trying to form a foundation for Liver research. She asked me for a theme song, and I found "Dr. Chordate", whose "Fifty Ways to Love Your Liver" is a landmark in music...

No news yet on whether the Foundation will adopt this song as its theme jingle.

"...By the way, I am not a liberal. You assume that anyone that disagrees with you is a liberal. Please state one thing that I have said that would qualify me as a liberal..."

Your belief that organ donation is an act that should transcend ideology smacks of: 'We all belong to each other'.

Right, Comrade?
