My guess is that we could have avoided this. I am a firm believer that lying with dogs gets you fleas everytime.

Unfortunately, the whole damned world is flea-ridden, even Canada, and even the US. So you have to be willing to embrace isolationism to be flea-free, and if you think isolationism works between nations, consider: If you completely isolate a town, it's economy will crumble. It is the same with a nation.

Unfortunately, the whole damned world is flea-ridden, even Canada, and even the US.

Come on, dealing with the Middle East is nothing like dealing with Europe, Africa, Asia, etc.

So you have to be willing to embrace isolationism to be flea-free,

So you are either with the globalists, or you are with the isolationists? Do I only get to choose between the 2 extremes?

and if you think isolationism works between nations, consider: If you completely isolate a town, it's economy will crumble. It is the same with a nation.

I thought we were talking about foreign policy, not trade. If we are now talking about trade, I don't know how you could think a town and a nation are the same thing. I have the same thoughts on foreign policy that our forefathers had, and that served us well. As "isolationists," we were able to expand the size of this nation many times over. No one here is talking about isolation except for the globalists. Some of us would prefer to be engaged with the rest of the world without constantly exposing our soft underbelly. I hope that the globalists can go back and relearn that lesson before we do it again the hard way.
