Way more unconventional is the King Mango Strut Dec. 30. This parody of the King Orange parade starts at 2 p.m. on Main Highway in Coconut Grove, a former bohemian neighborhood that has morphed into a giant, open-air shopping mall.

The Strut, now in its 14th year, is a throwback to the community's counterculture roots. Participants are mostly locals - including some prominent politicians and socialites - in a just-about-anything-goes lineup of kazoo bands, lawn-mower drill teams and topical humor.

Actually, Massachusetts' state flower is the Mayflower..which I never really knew was a flower, but that's their state flower.
