This from a local Tacoma, Washington, "alternative newspaper", The Tacoma Reporter Weekly, in their "Sticks and Stones" (gossip/editorial) column of 12/27/01, regarding an editorial printed in the Seattle Times - a rather liberal, socialist Seattle "news"paper:
Clearly, the Liberal media (if you'll pardon the redundancy) doesn't think the American people can be trusted. If any further evidence for the proposition is needed, one need look no further than a recent Seattle Times editorial entitled "Karate at 30,000 Feet."
The piece, which ran last Saturday, expressed the newspaper's unease with increased attendance at self-defense and martial arts schools in the wake of 9-11. It seems people who make their living flying want to be prepared in case of future terrorist attacks, and you'd think that would be a good thing... but, no, it's cause for concern in the Times' sanctum sanctorum.
"We can't have passengers tackling one another in the aisles without just cause," the newspaper fretted, concluding with an admonition that citizens should not "overreact or do anything that makes people feel even more jittery at 30,000 feet."
Other things being equal, we'd just as soon be surrounded by young Americans who know how to kill with their bare hands the next time we get on an airplane. Unlike the Times, however, we trust those citzens wouldn't beat us up just because they could.
Makes you wonder if, after they've confiscated all the handguns, the Liberals will come after the hands themselves... those skilled, deadly hands.
The Times' seems to be trying to push the Liberal BS similar to the old "if everyone is allowed to carry guns, then everybody will shoot everybody else all the time." This Krap has been proven to be totally wrong, but bleeding red rags like the Times will never admit it.
Apparently the Times editorial was written just before the "shoe-bomber" was taken down by the passengers of the AA Flight 63. Another "Lockerbie" was prevented by plain, ol' citizens "takin' care of business" like the ones on Flight 93 on 9/11. The Times couldn't have known that fate and circumstances would show their Liberal agenda to be the Krap that it is so soon after the ink hit the paper.
Of course, I doubt that the socialist/nazi's at the Times will ever allow history and facts to sway their opinions anywhere away from "full idiotic". They will probably try to make Reid out as a "misunderstood, well-meaning Islamic convert" whose civil rights were damaged by the "activist, right-wing" passengers and crew of Flight 63.
But at least it is nice to see another "fish wrapper" pointing out the Times' complete lack of even a modicum of intelligence in their indefensible editorial.
Isn't it great when the Liberals eat their own?
Back in the 60's, after Richard Speck murdered the nurses in Chicago, a wacko in Mesa, AZ entered the Rose-Mar Beauty Salon with a small calibre handgun, some plastic bags (too small to smother) and rope ... the result was the death of 5 or 6 women who submitted and didn't charge him en-masse.
I'm a middle-aged lady who WILL go down resisting from this point forward! I hope I would be joined by others.
YOU CAN COUNT ME IN!! I may be a 63 year old Grandma, but I'll be DA*NED if some towel head will threaten me and get away with it!!
The Okinawans developed kara te ("empty hand") because their rulers prevented them from owning weapons. I think it's a hell of an idea (especially given the state of affairs in our government, let alone in the world). Get 'em started young, and they'll turn out best.
