I lost my mother in September. She was 89 and had suffered from Alzheimers' disease for many years. I watched her decline little by little over the years and I knew one day I'd lose her but still.... She was a joy.

It has been a real bear. Thanksgiving was bad, but Christmas went pretty well. Tonight is … different.
Thanks to my web site I have been communicating with others who have experienced the same thing.
I don't know how many believe in spirits hanging around, but Sheryl has visited from time to time. Her usually thing is to tell me to go on with life. She hasn't been around as much as before – she has to move on the same as I – but tonight she came by and checked on me. I guess I'll never really be alone.
FR helps; and even though Sheryl bitched about my time on line before she just looks and smiles now.

I am so sorry for the loss of your mother. Although you prepare for it when they are ill, it is still a tremendous loss when it happens.

Thank you
I will not lie and say this New Year has been easy. It's been, very, very hard. But I've had fun with my friends from the face out!

But a new year brings with it new life, new challenges, new tomorrows.

If I can meet half of them, well then I'm Kit's (my late departed mother's) daughter.

God bless you.
A happy and healthy 2002 to you and yours, please God! :-)

Your son, Drew, will never be forgotten. My son received a C02 detector for his new room at the fraternity for Christmas! I wasn't content to have one in the hall, I wanted one in his room after what happened to Drew! If you feel like it one of these days, you might want to remind everyone what happened and tell them to get those detectors for themselves and for their children!

My prayers are with you and everyone else on this thread that has lost a loved one!

Tonight seems to harder for me that Thanksgiving and Christmas. This thread is a soothing balm to my heart, thank you. I lost my precious honey man on 10-10. He got a sore throat and was gone to be with Jesus so fast. At times I'm still surprised by it. Tonight seems particularly hard. I've been so blessed to be part of the "freeper" family. I don't feel so alone now.

My heart is heavy for all of you who have lost loved ones this year. I pray that your memories will sustain you during this difficult time.

This is also the time I think of 'Beece' --bcjohnson - who died just after New Years, 2 years ago. He was only 42. For those of you who don't know of bcjohnson, he heads the sad list on the Memorial page. (there is a link to it on the home page.) Beece - Barry Johnson - was a very talented man who gave so much of himself for Free Republic. He did the Fr.com 'Eagle with the Tear' logo, the 'March for Justice' poster, the logo for the DC Chapter, and so much more.

Rest in peace, Barry.

God Bless! I remember when my Dad died three years ago after a long illness. That first Christmas/New Year's was really hard! Will say a prayer for you tonight! I knew that Dad was in a better place without all the pain but that hurt was still there.

The one thing I made sure of was that I talked about him and all the good times with my kids -- learned that from my Grandpa when Grandma died. At the funeral home with the family sitting around he started telling stories of their life together and all the happy times they had and all of a sudden the family was laughing at the stories instead of shedding tears. My Grandma would have been so proud of him that night! It is a lesson that I have taken with me and it has helped get me through hard times along with a strong belief that God doesn't give us more than we can handle!

Take care and a prayer is sent to you and your family!
