What are the IP addresses of each machine?

Just what the instructions said: 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2

What is the subnet mask?

255.255.255.0

Can you ping other computers (on the internet) from each?

From the host, yes. The client, since the network isn't working, doesn't have internet access at the moment.

There is an article here ZDNet Article about the Netgear package. It mentions that the setup on 95 didn't install the proper drivers. That would be the first place I'd look.

If it has the correct drivers, have you tried both Netgear cards in the old system? That would be my second place to investigate. Sometimes, you get bad hardware out of the box.

What kind of NIC is in the new box? It could be a conflict between it and the netgear. I've seen stranger things happen. Another possibility for investigative purposes would be to put the netgear NICs in both the boxes and see if that works.
