Democrats, in the name of tolerance, plan to demonize conservative Christians as being like the Taliban, according to an article in Newsweek.

Democrats "are planning a daring assault on the most critical turf in politics: the cultural mainstream," political correspondent Howard Fineman writes.

I am tired of that same old line by Limbaugh, OUR military is there to protect, preserve, and defend the USA and our Constitution. That can be accomplished in a multitude of ways, not simply by the application of extreme force.

Their best use would be as a deterent; the threat of force. They should not be used as U.N. Peacekeepers, or for Nation Building.

I see that you directed this comment at me, among others. I'm going to try, as nicely as I can, to explain this to you one last time.

I'm going to speak only for myself, but I suspect many of the others here at FR that you accuse of targeting Christians in general would agree with me.

What I have tried to convey to you is that *you* are intolerant and that *you* use your Christianity to sit in judgment of others' Christianity.

I am a Christian, and most of the people who have reacted to your self righteous remarks have identified themselves as Christians also.

It is *not* your Christianity that I have reacted to, but your sanctimonious attitude. The very fact that you accuse me of targeting Christianity is an example of the problem that I have had with you.

I've noticed a pattern with you and most of us that you have directed your accusation to, and that is that you have implied and outright said over and over again that we are not Christians, but we have given you the benefit of the doubt about your Christianity.

You don't seem to accept that there are many differences among Christians, but that there is one thing that we all have in common and that is our love for Jesus Christ. I hope that you will consider examining your motives and changing your attitude toward other Christians who happen to practice different religions than you do.

I don't agree with all of your views, but as a Christian, I will try to focus on what we have in common rather than our differences if you will do the same, because what we have in common is the best thing that has happened to all of us.

I've been hard on you, I admit, but you really pushed my buttons because I cannot stand to see people twist the truth in order to condemn other people. You probably aren't aware that you've done that, but you have, not only to me and others at FR, but to the president as well.

So if we all keep in mind that we will have differences in doctrine, some major, with other Christians, but that none of that can overshadow the one thing that we do have in common, maybe some of these bad feelings will abate.

Dianne

The democratic party's bashing of the religious right has been going on for years, especially the Southern white Christians. The NYT and the demoRATS have hated me for years, nothing new here. Maybe that's why the South now votes for Republicans. If they expand their hatred to include all Christians as they did in the Ashcroft hearings, then we will have more of the country turning away from the demoRATS.

The problem with forecasting a backlash against the demoRATS is that when they talk about the religious fanatics, most Christians will assume they are talking about that other Christian denomination. The Catholics think they're talking about the Methodists. The Methodists think they're talking about the Baptists and the Baptists think they're talking about the Catholics. Unless ALL Christians understand that the demoRats are talking about ALL Christians, we will be divided and conquered.

Southern white Christians have been bashed for years and northern Christians have laughed at the jokes and repeated them as often as they could. You might be a redneck if . . . . . Think about all the trash that people in this country have bought about Southern Christians. Where was your outrage when Southern Christians were stomoped into the ground and called racists, bigots, ignorant, in-bred, poor white trash? Or should I ask, how many in the north, mid-West, and West believe that Southern Christians are rasist, bigoted, ignorant, in-bred, poor white trast?

And you think that the smears won't affect you. Think again.

Your comments are profound and must be understood by everyone who works for conservative victories. Even McCain's 'liberal' campaign last year thought Christian-bashing would be a winning issue for him. The political activists of the blue zones believe "as an article of faith" that the Pat Robertsons and followers of such are fair game.

Why would Bush's visit to Bob Jones University be treated like he had dined with the Devil? Because it resonates with the bi-coastal liberals. When the Democrat strategists and sympathizers look at the Red/Blue map they see
Blue:Intelligent elite & their wholely owned minority voters -
Red:Wacky churchgoing thickheads

They have convinced themselves that comparing American Christians to Taliban is a reasonable comparison.

I would like to hope that this would backfire on the Democrats. But, I am not sure that it will. I remember how John McCain was able to garner support from many democrats by Demonizing the so called "Religious right" as extreme. And, religious leaders, such as Pat Robinson, haven't been much help.

But, the truth be told... Most religious conservatives have been very quiet and peaceful lately. The only religious leader who has been making any waves is the Democrats own Jessie Jackson. What would they do to enable Jessie Jackson to be representative of the religious movement in the states, yet calling all others radical? It's a logical question that can't be answered by emotional people. But, they'd find a way. They would not want to aleniate their core Black Voting Block.

I personally would like to believe that this is a miscalculation on the part of the democrats, as more people have turned to religion than away from it. This is all as a result of 911. People are more intraspective and contemplative than one year ago. Issues that were important them just doesn't seem to be important now. I guess that the Democrats haven't learned this.

Let the Democrats do what they will. Americans are very sick of "fake" issues and "celebrities". They want down to earth good, hard working male figures. Not an administration run by the likes of janet Reno, Madeline Albright, Hillery Clinton, Jessie Jackson, Tom Dashile. Honestly.

What about the role of those inside the REPUBLICAN party in demonizing Christians? Bill Kristol comes to mind. He virtually destroyed Gary Bauer by urging him to go to McCain and thereby silenced him as a spokesman for Christian values.

It seems to me odd that Catholics would complain about a "one world religion." Haven't they been trying to embrace things as far fetched as Islam for years?

It would appear so to some degree. The following link will take you to the Vaticans website, to their online Catechism. Here it talks about the Catholic churches relationship to the Muslims. To be fair and get the the full context of the section, I would suggest reading section 839 through 848. 841 specifically talks about Muslims. Other faiths are also covered in the area.

Geez...Democrats planning to demonize Christians is news? Here is the real story in this article:

"Not surprisingly, the people who turned out for the birthday celebration in Manhattan looked closer in age to Elizabeth Cady Stanton than Sarah Jessica Parker. The contents of the giveaway goody bags were largely related to estrogen replacement. And the tone was nostalgic. In the testimonials to its enduring power, Ms. was often referred to in the past tense."

The Femi-Nazis are losing ground...good news to start the New Year!

To any Americans left in this country who doubt that the Democratic Party is a purely evil, destructive, anti-Christian, anti-American, criminal organization..........take heed.

The lines are clearly drawn.

[BTW.............I hope they do implement this insane "strategy". What little support they (the DNC) have left in the South will utterly evaporate.]
