Democrats, in the name of tolerance, plan to demonize conservative Christians as being like the Taliban, according to an article in Newsweek.

Democrats "are planning a daring assault on the most critical turf in politics: the cultural mainstream," political correspondent Howard Fineman writes.

"It just looks like the Catholic church is today bidding fair to MAKE itself the basis of a "one world religion." "

Today? How bout for the last 2000 years. Does that bother you? Did Jesus say preach the gospel to the whole world? I think so. It's called evangelization. And Catholics are not the only Christians who do it. Now I am trying to imagine a one world religion called Southern Baptist. Which I could accuse Southern Baptists of trying to spread because they certainly have energetic missions and missionaries. But I don't have unfounded, conspiratiorial fears of other denominations.

Strange. When Catholics evangelize it's a conspiracy to take over the world. But when Baptists do it it is a blessed thing.

Well I am glad I am not the only one. It is really getting bad. Anti-Semitism would not be tolerated here. But Catholic bashing is a blood sport. I can't understand why some people here have no problems at all bashing the Catholic faith on this board. Do they learn to do this at their church? Where does this come from? And any thread I am on where I see Catholic bashing I am going to point it out.

I just wish they would evangelize. Trying to integrate another religion into their own, sounds like something a bit short of that. <end bash>

It seems to me odd that Catholics would complain about a "one world religion." Haven't they been trying to embrace things as far fetched as Islam for years?

Um . . . sure . . . right . . . Get the guys in the white coats. Hurry!

It would seem that one of the unintended results of this type of propaganda campaign is achieving at least one of its underlying goals and that is to get politically active people on the right (at least starting from the center) to squabble and fight even more amongst themselves. But a major unintened result will also be to regenerate those on the religious right just when the movement needs a swift kick-start to get its grass roots campaign in gear just in time for the upcoming political campaigns.

With Pat Robertson having left the titular post as head of the Christian Coalition and the installment of a much lesser known replacement in Roberta Combs, this planned assault on the religious right will have some very unintended help from the left wing wackos. So I agree with the general sentiments of, "bring it on" expressed here by fellow CC types.

As for as whether the current Christian Coalition will be that vehicle is what seems to be uncertain. It may well go the way of the Moral Majority, clearing the way for a better organized and much more useful Chrstian type Coalition to take its place with a re-energized and re-vitalized charismatic, younger and more focused movement leader. As for who that would be, I know not at this time. But like other christian conservatives, I too will be praying for God to give us one and thus lead us.

You mean that the liberal democrats are going to try and push the party more left then it already is? Haha oh boy they are going to be in trouble. Bush was trying to pull the catholic vote away from the democrats and this could just push them into voting for bush. Not a smart move.

This is a little different than using class warfare to smear the rich. This is smearing a lot of their own supporters. A lot of the Democrat voters are compassionate, passive, turn the other cheek type religious people, that will be offended by a campaign against their beliefs. Comparing their opponents to the Taliban is a pretty far stretch.

Lack of Christ is the only thing that can send somebody to hell. New age is evil, but it is not more powerful than God.

isn't it true that the majority of Catholics vote Democrat rather than Republican?

Yes infact the catholics have been backbone of the democratic party for many years but they have been changing over to republicans for the past 10 years. Still most catholics vote democrat. My whole entire family of 200 relavtives used to be strong democrats for many years. At our last family reunion many have been talking about how the democrats are attacking people of faith. Many have even talked about supporting republicans however not enough to impress me. If this is true then the rest of them will support republicans and so will most catholics across the country.

democrats are attacking people of faith.

Doesn't the Constitution say something about persecution of religion?

When the Libs rewrote the Constitution and made atheism the official religion - they forgot to change the actual text in the first amendment.

Thus, religious persecution is against the law of the land.

The solution is simple. Conservatives must work to have liberalism and all it's variants (environmentalism, feminism, homosexuality, etc.) recognized as religions. Wouldn't this create a situation where those kinds of groups could not legally be involved in the political process?

The Democrat Party has become so dominated by leftists and homosexuals, they have already declared war on Christians who still follow those hated moral rules of the Bible.
