Service and agricultural jobs wouldn't be so undesirable if the illegals never were here. If we had a closed job market, all Americans would be better off with the higher wages--as a nation, we'd have a higher standard of living.

Here's a first lesson in free-market economics.

The market sets prices and relative values of good and services. Simply making low-value serivces more expensive only forces the prices of everything else up. We will always pay more for software developers than fruit pickers. Raising the price for fruit-pickers will do nothing other than raise the price for software developers, in addition to raising to prices for food. Everyone gets a pay raise but everyone also has to pay higher prices for everything.

If Europe or the United States are no longer populated, in the main, by people culturally or by ancestry to the land they reside in, does the nation still exist? I don't think so but it seems that there is a large group, even on this forum, that thinks otherwise. That being the case, the heart of the West is dead and the body can be expected to follow. The new century is not likely to be pretty.

I see that you neglected to mention just what it was you demanded that I 'back up'. If you have never noticed how american farmers have been driven off their land through stupid policies, its your own fault. Its not just agri-business any more, Dr. Many of the jobs they take merely reflect the greed of employers. Construction is a good example. Jobs that paid 15.00 to 20.00 per hour 15 years ago are now paying 6.00 to 8.00 per hour and even the foremen are generally bi-lingual, so as to be able to communicate with both the crew and the business owner. 570 posted on 1/2/02 12:58 PM Pacific by Ridin' Shotgun

Petronksi was nice enough to point out your flawed use of the definition above. It may go to follow that discrimination based upon racial distinctions is racism but it does not go to follow that racial distinctions or issues are discrimination and racist.

Thats because "blacks" do not want competition at the "freebie trough".

Even most working blacks don't like unlimited illegal immigration. Most Hispanics I've ever met don't like it either. Not out of competition for freebies but anyone with half a brain knows that taxpayers are the ones paying for the freebies. People of color don't like wages confiscated for those freebies anymore than whites.

I have not read this book, but regarding the attack on Christianity from liberals - there is now a concerted plan by leftists to attack Christianity (as told on Rush today.) In cahoots is the New York Times who will now refer to the Taliban RIGHT or Islam RIGHT and compare them to the "Christian religious right." I say that our country and culture is under attack - but while I agree that illegal aliens should be deported, it is not just some extreme foreigners who are attacking. Often, it is white liberals who are the worst. The rot from within so to speak.

In many areas of the country, the illegals won't pick fruit either so then someone invents machines that pick fruit faster, better and cheaper. Machines are why the costs of many things are down because it doesn't take $7000 a year in property taxes to pay for the education of each one of their kids. Illegals aren't cheap when you add up costs to educate them, provide their free health care, food stamps and all the rest.

Yes, a lot of what he has said is true. Take a look out the front door? Well, I hear a lot of Spanish being spoken by these immigrants and not enough English, more and more signs in Spanish, Veterans Day given a back page mention in our local paper but Cinco de mayo given Christmas-like status on the front page, and I could go on but it's making me ill. This IS an invasion and a lot of you screaming 'racist' at Buchanan have obviously not seen your city practically turn into a Mexican city, but I have seen that here and it will only spread into heartland of America too soon, and by then it will be too late.
