I had a professor in college, a UF alumnus, who hated Steve Spurrier.
Hated him. "Spurrier was a jerk," he railed once, "a real jerk." Then he calmed and said, "But you know, I snaked his wife in sophomore year."
That's what I think of when I see his name.

Yes. Considering Steve said this is his dream job, Gator grad and all.

Where ever he goes, they will automatically become one of my least favorite teams... I can't stand the guy and his sideline antics.

As an Auburn guy, who Steve gave us more than our share of beatings, I hate to see him go. He might have been brash but you always knew where he stood and he told it like it was. College athletics, and numerous other professions, could use more people like him.
BTW, he'll be in Jacksonville or Atlanta.

It'll be interesting to watch for sure. IMO much of his success at Florida is because he demands excellence and enforces a strict code of discipline. Sadly, that's hard to do in the NFL nowadays. The NFL is all about a bunch of egomaniacs. What's he gonna do when Moss doesn't show up for a team meeting, bench him?

I am an SEC and college football junkie and I was completely shocked by this announcement. Came completely out of the blue.

I agree with you. Spurrier will stay in Florida and Dungey will go to Minnesota.

Note that he waited to resign until AFTER the ND job was filled...now that would have been something to see.....

My mother, brother, son are all UF grads, daughter currently attending. I have been a Spurrier defender for years. But I worry about him in the NFL. He's gonna have a stroke.
