Wife fakes illness, eats pig’s faeces as first aid
A PIG’S faeces were recently used as first aid to “save” the life of the woman suspected to have drunk poison after a quarrel with her husband in a drinking place.
The woman was identified as Mariam Amoding wife of Olinga, a resident of cell 4 at Camp Swahili in Soroti town. Amoding, after the quarrel, left for home and straightaway went to bed.
When her husband arrived home, he found her gnashing her teeth. This scared him and threw him into confusion. He suspected his wife to have taken poison and summoned his neighbours, who suggested that the only remedy to avert the crisis was a pig's faeces. Olinga, who is also an LC 1 councillor in the area was not bothered by the suggestion.
While the people were administering the feaces, he was trying to get a vehicle to to take her to hospital. In that confusion, different people came up with different suggestions. Some suggested that she should be taken to the police station and make a statement first.
Amoding swallowed the pig's feaces because she was determined to fool everybody into believing that she was really in critical condition. Amoding only started screaming when she was carried to the vehicle.
She resisted with a lot of strength and told the men who were carrying her to leave her alone. They were furious when they discovered she had been fooling them. They called her all sorts of names and warned her never to behave so childishly again.
They are on the cutting edge of medical technology.
