Not really. What was happening was, i think, two things. One, the PLO was supported by the left. The difference was that that meant the openly awoved communist left - the marxists, the maoists and all that ilk. Since then, the "leftwing" left has become the mainstream left. Two, back way when, it was still a bit more socially unacceptable to be a Jew-hater. As the nazis and the communists have wormed their way into mainstream politics, the brakes are off.
When was the PLO founded? Wasn't it 66 or so?
