Let's see: Johnny McInsane is teaming up with yet another Dumbocrat to introduce a bill which will require COMPULSORY VOLUNTEER SERVICE> from young people.

If you didn't believe it before, believe it now: McNinny has gone completely insane and is now a full-blownd Communist.

GOOD LORD, how did Arizona end up having this Major League Clymer as their senator?!?!?

Well, this is simple enough. Any legislation that McCain proposes is bad. He has an unblemished record in that regard. Campaign finance "reform" is only the best known example of a whole series of ill-conceived, mostly unconstitutional proposals that he has co-sponsored with liberal Democrats. So, no need to look at this new act in detail. If McCain is for it, it must be bad. Just vote it down.

These guys are amazing. They are so quick to put a gun to the people's head and make them do good. This is more of the same. "The Road to Serfdom" is paved with good intentions...or are they?

DOCTOR ONE: Uh, yea, we are ready to go. Is he prepped?

DOCTOR TWO: OK. Cut right there. Oh gee! We are really going to have to go deep. That's a real mess.

DOCTOR ONE: Well, I hate to excise this much out of his temporal lobe but there just is no choice.

DOCTOR TWO: Hey, give this guy some more gas! He is coming around and we are digging out part of his brain!

GAS PASSER: Oops, sorry.

McCAIN: The strawberries! They took my strawberries! From the Straight Talk Express wardroom! But I had them! I used geometric logic to....

GAS PASSER: Hey! He was jiggling these steel balls in his hand!

McCAIN: Gooks! Gooks! Gooooo......

DOCTOR ONE: All done. Hope he didn't need that part of his brain......

Please understand what this program is in concept:

MANDATORY volunteer (i.e., unpaid) service by 500,000 young people.

Of course, this programs will have to have at least several thousand well-paid bureaucrats to supervise the unpaid "volunteers", right? And the bureaucrats will have to travel extensively, be housed in posh offices, attend conferences in five star hotels, and have regular "team-building retreats" in Disney World, etc.

This idea is so preposterous, it almost leaves me speechless. One would think that only a drugged-up Dumbocrat could come up with something this stupid. But NOOOOOOOO, we have John McCain right in the middle of this!!!

Well, the Brown Shirts did a lot to help Hitler shape public opinion. You got to go with what works.

Cool your jets folks.

Both Bayh and McCain offices point out that they DID NOT say mandatory.

Fox News found some think-tank consultant puke who said it might be maybe kinda' sorta' something to consider, maybe, sometime.

"National Mandatory Service"

Hmmmmmm... This rings a bell. Let's have a look at the old trusty dictionary:

slave(slav) n.
1. One bound in servitude as the property of a person or household.
2. One who is abjectly subservient to a specified person or influence: 'I was still the slave of education and prejudice' (Edward Gibbon).
3. One who works extremely hard.
4. A machine or component controlled by another machine or component.

slav·er·y n. pl. slav·er·ies
1. The state of one bound in servitude as the property of a slaveholder or household.
2.a. The practice of owning slaves.
b. A mode of production in which slaves constitute the principal work force.
3. The condition of being subject or addicted to a specified influence.
4. A condition of hard work and subjection: wage slavery.

Both Bayh and McCain offices point out that they DID NOT say mandatory.

But that doesn't mean that others aren't proposing it and that it's not already required by many high schools.

If McStain proposes a compulsory service period for young citizens to safeguard the borders of the United States by serving in the Armed Forces, then I agree.

When I think that I once entertained notions of supporting McCain, who I now see is an unstable, muddle-headed, ego freak, I thank my lucky stars that I woke up to who he really is before committing myself.

AmeriCorps was JFK worshiping Clinton's attempt to create a Peace Corps of his own. It's a complete boondogle and should be eliminated rather than expanded.

Even if this expansion of Americorps is purely "voluntary", it will be a complete waste of taxpayer money.

Do you remember the United States Youth Conservation Corps from back in the 70's? I do--I was a camp director two YCC camps in 1979 and 1980 (when I was young, liberal and foolish--LOL).

This YCC "conservation camp" used high school kids to complete "critical" conservation projects like a nature trail nobody used, a footbridge that nobody crossed, and a cross-country ski trail on an Air Force base that was shut down a few years later. Yeah, we really "saved the environment"--NOT!!! And of course, there were full-time well-paid YCC bureaucrats running around everywhere "supervising" our camp, holding "training sessions" at fancy hotels, etc.

THE YCC was a COPMPLETE WASTE OF TIME AND TAXPAYER MONEY, and that's one of the reasons Ronald Reagan shut the program down the year he was elected.

Americorps is no different and will be no different than the YCC, whether it's mandatory or voluntary. The Call to Service Act would be a FRIGGIN' WASTE OF TAXPAYER MONEY, brought to you by the one Clymer Senator who claims to be The Messiah Guardian Against Pork.

"young people would have to pick up shovels to dig foundations"

Dig them for what? It was always my impression that the govt. could not compete with the private sector. Those foundations should be dug by contractors who won the job bid.

Roger all that, but you're preaching to the choir.

But it feels good, eh?
