Engler's tribute surprises gay pair

It was a pleasant surprise for Henry Messer and Carl House when they received a special tribute in December, cosigned by Gov. John Engler, honoring their 50th anniversary together and their work for gay rights.

"It was very nice. We had a nice chuckle," said Messer of Dearborn Heights. The chuckle was because Messer, a founder of the Triangle Foundation, a gay advocacy group in metro Detroit, couldn't believe Engler had signed it.

Hey Gary, how are you ?

You've done some good work with the AFA in Michigan but this isn't really much of an issue. Pursuing it with much effort would make you look like a fuss-budget. Good luck.
