Are you kidding or what?I have never been selected, but would love to be a jurist. It may be inconvenient, but if only the people who cant get out of it serve, God help all of us.Does OJ ring any bells for you?

I was called and asked to serve on a jury that could last a minimum of 3 weeks (civil trial). There was no bus service in our area and I was the sole means of getting children to and from school - and one was in school only half day, so they had to let me drive a half hour to pick him up, find COSTLY day care (I'm a STAY-AT-HOME MOM) , and then drive another 1/2 hour back to the courthouse. You get the picture . . . I wasn't even asked to come back the second day!

wouldn't you want someone like you on a jury trial you were having? I had the same problem with a murder trial, two small kids, big inconvenience... but then I realized that if all those that were clever enough to get out of jury duty did get off, then WHO would be deciding the fait of the trial.

Tell 'em you hate gangs. That's what my sister told them, she's an RN and it worked for her.

I worked with a woman who was very eager to be selected for jury duty. She would actually be happy when she was notified to appear for jury selection and sadly for her they never picked her ---she never understood why ---but I think if you look too eager like you really want to be picked, they won't pick you.

If you're self-employed you can always use the "economic harship" defense to get out of jury duty.

Tell the judge that jury duty is unconstitutional under the thirteeth amendement prohibition against involuntary servitude. You will be instantly sent out of the courtroom. It has worked for me a few times.

Say that to yourself over and over and then come back here and ask for donations for a one-way ticket to any other country.

Participation in the jury system is one of the few (peaceful anyway) productive recourses that we have left to fight the tyrants with.

It's much more effective than voting since your single vote on a jury could keep an innocent man out of jail. Whereas one vote in an election is not going to make a damn bit of difference one way or the other.

Imagine being brought up on bogas, unconstitutional charges by a illegitimate and tyrannical district attorney with a corrupt judge presiding. Now imagine the jury consisting of 4 soccer moms, 2 lesbians, 2 leftist college students, an abortionist, and 3 government employees. All because "conservatives" wanted excuses to get out of jury duty.

Well, you already got number one: You listen to Rush Limbaugh. But show up with one of his books to read while you wait and display it prominantly (seriously) - and you will need a book, guaranteed.

Number two: Claim you are a libertarian and believe drug laws are unconstitutional (if true).

Number three: Show up proudly in a Bush-Cheney T-shirt or a nice US-flag tie and suspenders.

Number four: Claim financial hardship (again, only if true). Some judges will at least listen to you but you must show up to make the claim.

As a citizen, you have an obligation to serve on a jury if called. Is two weeks of your life to much to ask?

The sad part is that what you are doing by avoiding jury duty is just continuing to allow bizarre verdicts to be given by all of the morons that were not smart enough to get out of jury duty. Since motor-voter laws were enacted by Slick Willie the by-product of that is that the dregs of society are now eligible and serve on juries. You have heard of jury nullification and the OJ verdict haven't you?

I was summoned to sit on a murder trial a few years ago. My hearing is not all that great and I told the judge I didn't think I could render a fair decision if I didn't think I'd be able to clearly hear all the testimony...and out the door I went.
