Carolina's (the correct one, i.e., the southern most) motto:

Emollit mores nec sinit esse feros (from Ovid) and meaning approximately "Makes gentle the character and does not allow it to be unrefined."

And, MOO COLLEGE (now U) cannot make that claim.
