Hiring of Foreign Workers Frustrates Native Job-Seekers

At a time when few technology companies are hiring and many have laid off hundreds of thousands of workers, the government issued tens of thousands of coveted H-1B visas that allow foreign workers to hold jobs in the United States for up to six years.

American tech companies have insisted for years that the visas are essential to their ability to hire the right people for key jobs, and they have persuaded Congress to increase the number of visas in the H-1B program several times. But many out-of-work American engineers and their advocates see it as a giveaway of jobs to less-expensive foreign labor.

Business loves slave labor, whether it is picking lettuce or computer engineers. Hopefully, these guys can lobby as successfully as big business or otherwise they may end up picking lettuce.

Perhaps someone will open a MickeyD's so the Americans can serve the foreigners who took their jobs. This has got to STOP! Where is the outrage???!

LOL! McDonalds would not probably even hire them unless they were fluent in Spanish and would work for slave wages. American citizens are losing jobs at the bottom and middle income levels. Pretty soon we will all be out of work. All workers will be imported legally or illegally. What we are seeing here is the race to the bottom. America on her way to third world status, courtesy of your elected officials, big business, labor unions and immigration attorneys.

The program's critics, including Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.), who has introduced legislation to reduce the number of H-1B visas, remain unconvinced.

One logical voice crying out in the wilderness.

Since the whole purpose of a H1-B is to get the cheapest employees, they are probably the last to be laid off. The citizens will be fired first.

There's way too much ignorance about the implications of H1B issues. Read this for an education:

Great point FITZ,the problem is the mainstream media doesn't bring this to light as it should. For example,a few months back I foolishly waited for a CNN MONEYLINE story to run, which they were promoting as an objective look at the H-1B VISA program. When the feature ran ,it was mostly just a propaganda, leftwing garbage -sob story - revolving around a Pakistani and the possible deportation of him and LARGE family;I didn't realize we as americans had to sit back like fools and watch Indians and pakistani's take our jobs away from us,but I GUESS CNN sees it this way. As CNN TV ratings fall faster than the Atlanta Hawks NBA team attendence, REAL AMERICANS like Mr.Williams from Denver are suffering big time; Do these elitist fools see this? Maybe if they ran a piece like this on the Williams family ,they'd get some viewers back. P.S.IF YOU GUYS WOULD LIKE TO SIGN A PETITION,AIMED TOWARDS LOWER IMMIG.#s go to :www.petitiononline.com/immiGBA/petition.html or go to WWW.AMERICANPATROL.COM AND LINK ON NEAR TOP OF THE PAGE .
