[history]
"On primary election night, Simon made the comparison to Reagan explicit. The early Reagan, he said, was "short on experience, but long on principle, vision and optimism." It was a nice try to tie himself to the man who beat Pat Brown. But unless something changes dramatically, it's more likely that in 2002, it's the California Republicans, not the Democrats, who will have orchestrated a battle they are destined to lose."

So, Bill Simon isn't Ronald Reagan? Gray Davis is no Jack Kennedy. Or Walter Mondale, for that matter.

Once again, the LA BEHIND THE TIMES got it wrong...If Simon loses, California loses.. a little peek into the future--Simon beats Davis and GWB carries Cal. in 2004

It's worse than that. Gray makes his old boss Jerry Brown look good.

LOL! Jerry Brown was better when he was stoned than Gray Davis is when he's sober.

This summer, Simon will have to attack Davis with issues--high-priced energy contracts, a state budget deficit--that carry a far lower emotional temperature. However bothersome, kilowatt prices do not churn the gut like violence in the streets.Doesn't this guy know that the state of the economy is the single issue most likely to swing votes? Methinks he doth protest too much. This piece is just whistling past the graveyard. While I'm not a Californian, I'll be watching for signs that Simon may be someone that conservatives can be proud of.

This summer, Simon will have to attack Davis with issues...Oh, no. Can't have this. That would be "negative campaigning".

So, Bill Simon isn't Ronald Reagan? Maybe not,but he IS more conservative than Riordian, who was backed by Bubba Bush. Then again,Bubba-2's father wasn't a supporter of Reagan, either. Not only is he the one that came up with the term "Voo Doo Economics",but the sorry SOB did everything he could do to undo what Reagan had accomplished once he took over. Including raising taxes and signing executive orders to create new gun laws without having to bring them up for vote.

I take it that somewhere in that rant you had a point you were trying to make... Yeah, but don't worry about it. You'd never understand it because you obviously think your allegedy Republican statists are just peachy-keen when compared to the Dim statists. Go back to sleep. Don't worry,be happy.

Gray Davis is not even Joe Travis. (Joe is the town dog-catcher)
