HUGE EXPLOSION IN YEMEN...OUTSIDE U.S. EMBASSY
I say we send one back. Postage due.
SANAA (Reuters) - An explosion was heard in an area close to the U.S. embassy in the Yemeni capital on Friday, residents said, and security forces closed the streets leading to the mission.
"There was an explosion in the Sa'wan area," a resident said, confirming accounts of other residents. Officials and U.S. diplomats were not immediately available for comment. A journalist said security forces blocked access to the area near the embassy, but no ambulances were seen.
The embassy on Wednesday warned Americans in Yemen that they could be in danger of "imminent terrorist targeting." The warning came on the eve of a visit by Vice President Dick Cheney (news - web sites), who left Sanaa on Thursday. The Arab state in December launched a manhunt to capture backers of Osama bin Laden (news - web sites)'s al Qaeda network. Sanaa on Thursday pledged support to Washington's drive to help prevent al Qaeda forces from regrouping on Yemeni territory.

If this had been an actual emergency--even if they had few facts--you would have the talking heads on continuous coverage.
Back to work, everyone.
Now back to my "holy feces" mode.
Whew, I was just about to jump in the shower, and didn't want to have FReepers keep me posted. {;^)
