Former U.S. Interior Secretary and Arizona Gov. Bruce Babbitt was reported missing Friday when he failed to return from a hike near a central Arizona lake, a sheriff's spokesman said.
Babbitt was hiking with a group of people near Lake Pleasant, about 30 miles north of Phoenix, when he got ahead of the group, said Maricopa County Sheriff's Department spokesman Bill Knight.
When the group returned to the car, Babbitt couldn't be found, Knight said.
"As far as I know he hasn't walked out of the area," Knight said.

According to Stephanopoulous, Babbitt was one of three on Clinton's "short list" for his first SCOTUS nomination, along with Ginsberg (the winner, unfortunately for all Americans), and Mario Cuomo (who bowed out, very fortunately for all Americans).
Babbitt had insider knowledge of several scandals within the x42 Regime, and may have been "offed", a la Mr Foster.

Oooh, Cougars are known to be in that area! How old was Babbitt, a former governor of Arizona? About 70 maybe? Nearing that?
Ironic if an endangered and/or reintroduced species would eat a former secretary of the interior, but they can't be too fussy these days, you know.
