Just something to think about...

In US military mapping, the US side is shown in blue: the opposing forces in red. I think General Walker, a Birch Society member, got in trouble for his "pro-blue" ideological training program back in the '60s.
BTW, I may be misremembering, but I think that in some previous TV election coverage, the GOP was shown in Blue and the Dems in Red. Maybe the 2000 coloring was just an effort at rotation?

Red = red-blooded American.;^)

It is something I HAVE thought about. I decided a long time ago that the networks were uncomfortable with using red to denote Democrats because of the association of that color with communism and socialism. It is just a little too close to the truth, and makes them uneasy.

I could be wrong, but I belive the party in the White House gets blue on election night and the opposition gets red.
If this is the case, in 2004 Bush states will be blue.

But, as John Morgan, one of America's leading electoral demographers says, they have it backwards.
This would be the same John Morgan who predicted, based on his demography talents, that Bush would beat Clinton and then that Dole would beat Clinton.

I never bought off on the Red for Republicans B.S. To me Socialism is as Red as Communism. The Democrats should wear it with pride.
Freepers too easily bought off on the Red, IMO. We have to learn to call the ba--ards on every piece of tripe they seek to pass off.

I am not sure this matters very much. I noticed some years back that the Republican Women's Clubs and the Republican women in Congress seem to have adopted red as their color.

Interestingly, the countries that made up the British Empire were shown as red on British maps. It took me a while to realize that this was what characters in pre-1940 English novels were talking about, and not the spread of communism.

The tree of liberty must be watered from time to time with the bood of patriots.Within that context, I can accept the blood-red color being associated with the Republicans. The communist appropriation of red as their color is an illegitimate theft, and I don't see any reason to abandon the color to them.
