I like the new option of setting the time of the postings to our own time zone. No longer do I need to do the mental calculation of adding 3 hours to Pacific Time.

I hadn't even noticed that, even though I changed that setting this morning. Thanks for pointing it out. No more adding three hours for me!

Ok, I've finally got used to most things. Went to Preferences and that helped alot!! Also like that we are getting a lot of breaking news now instead of just 5 or 6 - that was bad.

However...I still am having one problem. I don't like the "announcements" that keep showing up at the top of the page before the latest posts show up. How do I get rid of these announcements?

I am liking it more and more, I am not a avid 24 hour fan like some people are, so it took me a few days to "get into the groove" but I did. Hang tough fellow freepers. I figured it out, and I am not the most gifted tech person by far.

Its not the look of Free Republic that needs work. It's the content. I used to like coming here. Used to visit FR a dozen times a day easy. You could go to the Latest Posting page and catch up on the news and other interesting stuff going on that you probablly wouldn't come across anywhere else. But not anymore.

Now you have to wade through dozens of ridicoulus posts about how Bush is a RINO, and 100000000 illegal immigrant threads, and articles from wackos at some half baked website acting like a real news source. And when you do find a good thread, you have to struggle through 200+ postings of people who "aren't voting for RINO Bush", or some other anti-immigration B.S.

Free Republic should take a lesson from Lucianne.com (where I am spending more and more time). They need better control over postings here. It is out of hand. There are too many nut cases who give real conservatives the bad name we have to deal with all the time.

I never knew right wing extremism till Free Republic.

I love it, absolutely love it, I would not want to go back to the old format. To all my fellow Freeper's that might be unhappy with it, just give it a chance, the bells and whistles are fun and not complicated, you know when you have a response to one of your post, you know when you have mail, you get to sort through what is important to you, tailor the site to suit yourself, it's great.

Alot of thought went into the changes and I just love them. Thanks and cuddo's to who ever put it together.

When I first saw the new forum I didn't like it but its growing on me. I recommend everyone change their preferences to show the '2 column' version of FR(it is much better).

Whatever changes have been made are no thanks to you who kept your mouth shut. You owe those changes to those who did not keep there mouth shut. Kind of like this country came about because of the people who did not keep there mouth shut. Did you ever stop to think about that?

Dude...You have been able to do that for about a year now. I have had mine set to my time zone for what seems like forever.

I know. But 3 columns is entirely too much clutter on the screen, I'd rather go without the breaking news box than have to squint at the squished center column. Why can't JohnRob combine the functions of the two columns on the outside into one?
