I can only conclude that the pissers and moaners are either low IQ dweebs, or people who pose as FreeRepublic supporters but who are lost souls destined for failure.

I like the new look also, I think the headers would be easier for me to read if they were in BOLD RED FONT instead of blue. Other than that..... I like it

"If you can't learn the new interface, you probably don't have much intelligence to contribute to the forum."That was my thought, but I managed to refrain from saying it.

I was a little shocked at first, but after a little experimentation, I found I liked it. And every few hours today JimRob tweaked it in response to comments. I also think it's Grrreeeaaat!
After hearing rumors about folks cancelling their donations (Neanderthals), I'm considering doubling my monthly!

I like it too. I think most of the griping is knee-jerk reaction to sudden change.

To those who whine that the interface is not convenient, get a life. If you can't learn the new interface, you probably don't have much intelligence to contribute to the forum. One would usually have to travel to Democratic Underground in order to find rhetoric of this caliber.

I was annoyed about a couple of changes in the format when I logged on this morning, but I kept my mouth shut, and they have ALL been resolved as of this evening. Patience is a virtue.

I don't mind the new format either. I can get used to it. I tried posting a humorous Herbert Kornfield piece about the changes but it got pulled. Oh well. I was just trying to lighten the place up a little. This controversy will pass.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this (probably so), but I love the fact that the Latest Posts are updated in real-time, as each post occurs, rather than with a bunch of the new posts every minute or so like before.

It is great. And it's been improved during the day. One more item I'd like to see revised -- the line separating posts seems to be in the wrong place. It should be BELOW the "Post reply / Private reply" menu. Right now, it's just a little bit confusing, because it doesn't really divide one post from the next. If it stays this way, I'll deal with it.

Frankly, the efforts of the FreeRepublic are great. As hard as it is to go against the established media, FreeRepublic comes through every time. To those who whine that the interface is not convenient, get a life. If you can't learn the new interface, you probably don't have much intelligence to contribute to the forum. Well, after playing around a couple of hours, and with the minor changes that have taken place today, I am gradually getting the feel for the new set up.
My only gripe was you need to make navigation as simple as possible for any and all newbies. FR must continue to attract more and more people and ease of navigation is key. Even the smartest and brightest had to learn how to navigate the Internet and web sites. It is obvious that Jim Robinson IS reading the feedback and adjusting the site. The moaning and groaning will eventually cause FR to become the easiest web site to navigate, bar none.
As for content, nothing comes close to FR. It is still the first site I check in the morning and the last site I check at night!!

I can only conclude that the pissers and moaners are either low IQ dweebs, or people who pose as FreeRepublic supporters but who are lost souls destined for failure. There's a difference between "pissers and moaners" and those who offer constructive criticism. In other threads, myself and others have criticised and offered many suggestions. Already, Jim and crew have listened (many people had the same critisms) and made improvements. The annoying faded flag is gone (yeah!). The Breaking News and other sidebars have been increased from 5 story titles to
Now the opposite of "pissers and moaners", ie. "mindless, lemming-like cheerleaders," are happy with just about anything shoved down their throats. You may or may not be in this category, but IMHO, if you're not a member, you may want to consider joining ;)
Just curious, were you a contributor to the new layout? You did the faded flag sidebar, didn't you...lol

Don't be a jerk. I figured out the new version in a few mintues, but just don't care for the new layout. I'm sure many of those filing complaints are in this catagory. I'm not leaving FR over it, but hope that by voicing my view, FR will mostly revert to the friendlier UI of yesterday.
