What happened to the 100+ villagers who were reported to be in the Church?

I think its amazing that every report about this says the poor palestinians are "taking refuge" or "are trapped" in the church when in fact they are
HOLDING HOSTAGES!
Taking refuge my &^%$! I hate the media.
To: kattracks
I never heard there were "villagers" in the church: another Reuters invention, perhaps?
To: kattracks
If they had no weapons, the IDF probably let them leave.
The terrorists only care about keeping the Christian clerics hostage - the villagers would have been useless for that purpose.
In any case all the news stories are inexact and maddening! Is it 40 priests or is it 40 brothers?

My question exactly. I count 74 clergy - who are the rest which make up 200? If they are Palies, why didn't the gunmen let their own people go?

It takes a village to raise a church

Same reason it hasn't been reported that yesterday Hizbollah beat three UN observers so badly with rifle butts that they had to be hospitalized. I saw it at the very bottom of a news report, and then never again. Can you imagine the outcry if the Israelis beat up UN observers? But evidently it's okay if the terrorists do it. I am convinced that fear of terrorism is holding the whole world hostage and leading normally sentient beings to appease for all their worth. It's maddening.

I agree that both the quality and quantity of news from Bethlehem are unsatisfactory. But based on what I've seen, I don't believe the Palestinians are seeking sanctuary in the customary sense. They may actually be hoping to provoke an outrage by the IDF. I don't interpret this as a hostage situation either. Most of these Christians probably want to remain in the church, to protect it.

Why would they need 60 priests in one church? A case of too many chiefs and not enough indians.

Make that - It takes a village muslim to raze a chuch...

They may actually be hoping to provoke an outrage by the IDF. I wouldn't be surprised if they murdered some of the hostages and blamed it on Israel. There's no way that the Israelis would be so stupid as to fire on the building, or attempt a forcible entry - the whole world is watching, and they have enough PR problems (why, I don't know, but they do).

Well, my hope is that we will decisively best world terror organizations despite the contemptible appeasers in Europe's governments and in the UN....

Can someone please explain to me why the WHOLE WORLD is in denial? This is like some big bad dream.
They are. The western lefties are in a tizzy since 9/11, their anti-American constructs challenged, in Europe the realization of future civil wars forced into their smug minds. Along with their leftist agendists hiding under the cover of "reporter", they've found something familiar to lash out about and protest their moral superiority by comparison. All reporting on the issue should basically be reclassified to the opinion pages.
They fear the death of multiculturalism, anti-Americanism and anti-Westernism. Russia no longer helps them with propaganda and money. What to do? Blame the Jews.
The Arab governments are relatively sane.
