Good to know we have "family" playing at the Masters. Go Stewart! He's hanging in there, had a rough patch with bogies on 9, 10, and 12, but bounced back with a birdie on 13; now +1, 6 behind the leaders, Love and Garcia. Sorry to see the damp weather; it takes a lot of the fire out of the greens. I think it's safe to say that pro golfers, as a group, are among the most politically conservative athletes. I wonder if the fact that they are by definition individual achievers, as opposed to team players, has anything to do with that? I remember that Paul Azinger was in the studio during one of Rush Limbaugh's old TV shows, and was introduced by Rush. And Arnold Palmer was heavily recruited, back in the 1970s-80s, by the GOP to run for Governor of Pennsylvania; no idea whether he ever seriously considered it, though. Of course, many of the pros never make their political leanings known, and that's fine, too. I have no idea, for example, whether Tiger's a libertarian or a commie...
I'll be there tomorrow and Sunday. Look for me on TV -- I'll be the middle-aged white guy with a cup of Heineken in my hand, lol. Rooting for Davis Love, fellow Charlotte native, UNC alum, and all-round good guy, though admittedly not exactly Mr. Excitement.

Did not know Davis was born in NC. How old was he when he moved to Sea Island? That's his residence now, correct? One of my favorite moments in golf history was when he won the PGA Championship and the rainbow appeared. CBS produced an amazing shot from the side of the green that looked like the rainbow ended at the hole. Simply an amazing and spiritual moment.

Cink blew up by bogeying 9, 10 and 12. Birdied 13 to get back to +1 for the tournament. Only 5 pars thru 14 holes.

Did not know Davis was born in NC. How old was he when he moved to Sea Island?Davis' father, Davis Love Jr., was the head pro at Charlotte Country Club (a great old Donald Ross course which hosted the U.S. Amateur in the 1970s) when Davis III was born. In fact, Davis Jr. was the surprise co-leader after the first round of the Masters in 1964 a couple of days before Davis III was born (tomorrow is his 38th birthday).
Davis Jr. left Charlotte to become Head Pro at Atlanta Country Club. Can't put a year on that, but Davis III was a kid when they moved to Atlanta. Sea Island came later.

3 way tie at the top (-5): DL3, Paddy Harrington and El Nino. Lefty just bogeyed 9 to drop back to -4.
