The big problem the U.S. faces in this matter is that Saddam

I heard a talking head last night. He said that the Middle East problem will never go away until Saddam, Iran, and Syria have been taken care of. I believe he may be right. They will simply get the bomb party going again after any cease fire.

Arafat could have read a passage from Doris Kearns Goodwin plagiarizing Lenin in Chinese and that would have met the State Departments criterion for a meeting.

Think we could make him do that anyway, just for kicks?

Personally, I would like to hear Arafat denounce, in no uncertain terms, in Arabic, his own sorry existence.

We do not need any further outrages from Arafat to condemn him. The end game is now. Blast his ugly posterior to kingdom come and do the same to all of the subsequent terrorists leaders who want to fill his shoes. All our dovish interventions have been met with violence. It is time to meet this violence with an answering overwhelming response. I don't care what the eurotrash, UN, or anybody else thinks. We need to take care of the problem now.

Could this be the Future?

Mr. Powell, how do you feel now that more terrorists have been released,
and they have killed more Americans and Israelis?

RESPONSE: Powell:"What me worry?"

Arafat is the spokesman for the Palestinian terrorist groups, cleverly disguised as a head of state representative of the people that he represses.

We have no choice but to go through the motions of dealing with him diplomatically. Until someone better is found, that is.

For what it's worth, serious debate has been going on for the past eight months, on who might be a responsible leader that the GENERAL Palestinian population would follow. This is more difficult than it seems, because you can't just do a poll of registered Palestinian voters over there.

Nothing will come of any meeting, regardless of whether it takes place or not. It is the attempt, and only the attempt, which is important.

The Bush admin. is trying to do the impossible! I have to respect that effort in priciple. The final result is not clear but failure is likely. Bush is putting it on the line. It would have been easier to walk away and then folks would be critical of that. I will wait and see.

CNN now reporting the meeting will be at 5AM tomorrow. Hmmmmmmm! Let's wait and hold our wrath until this is over. (one way or another we will deal with it)

Powell has a repeat-terrorist-apologist.

There is no excuse for his pandering to murderers of innocents.

"Personally, I think the Israeli's need a few more days for their roundup."

Actually, Sharon mentioned the other day that he needed something like three weeks.

Like I said on another thread, Powell is a idiot!

You know I don't see what the big deal is about Powell meeting with Arafat

Either Arafat will agree with our terms or he won't

If I recall the Bush Administration gave the Tabilbon a chance to do the right thing .. they choose to ignore us and guess what happen next ..

I'm not saying we will bomb Palestine .. but I am sure President Bush has other plans

"Arafat could have read a passage from Doris Kearns Goodwin plagiarizing Lenin in Chinese and that would have met the State Departments criterion for a meeting.

This line tickles me...well said.

This unfolding drama is like the last Superbowl the Bills were in. I knew they were losers when they walked through the tunnel onto the field, could see it in their faces. Still, I had to sit through 4 quarters for reality to catch up with perception. This kabuki dance we're doing has a purpose, but the key decisions are already made.

Roll on, Lion of Israel. Roll on, USA.

The US should NEVER appease terrorists and pirates.

The problem here is that this terrorist is the head of a recognized government.

Bush and Bowell should not allow Arafat to pull our chain. That's exactly what he's doing. Kill civilians and mouth some meaningless platitudes, and get a visit from the SoS who will beg to please stop the attacks. Pathetic.

Your anti-American talk on this supposedly patriotic site is an outrage.

Nothing that poster said is outrageous or unpatriotic. Cut the crap.
