WASHINGTON -- The new University of California at Merced holds infinite charms for San Joaquin Valley congressional candidates.
Democrat Dennis Cardoza of Merced and Republican Dick Mon-teith of Modesto both support the project unwaveringly. But as Cardoza and Monteith vie for Gary Condit's 18th District seat, the candidates also are competing to show what vigorous suitors they can be.

This district was realigned so as to favor the Democrap. However, if any Republican can win, it's State Senator Dick Monteith. Cardoza is ALMOST as creepy as his mentor, Gary "OJ" Condit. I have met Monteith; he's a great guy! Go, Monteith!!! For victory & freedom!!!

We have not forgotten; Gary Condit's rotten! Go, Monteith!

Thumbs up for, uhm, one of them!

I wouldn't trust Cardoza any farther than I could throw him. Any word on when Condidit's going to go before the grand jury? And if Dick Gephardt starts squealing about Traficant, I hope Dick has to explain why he's not going after a sitting Congressman who's dodging a g.j. subpoena.

Cardoza gives me the CREEPS!!! I've heard some awful stuff about him, too - about his private-life fetishes, etc. Those democRATS are scary critters. Go, Monteith!

Maybe I'm having a blonde moment or perhaps even an "elder moment," but the statement "Let's face it, Washington, D.C., is in charge." regarding the new Merced campus has me scratching my head. It's a California city and a California university, so when did Washington take over? (I'm sure that the minute it is explained to me, I'll remember.)

Fox reported on Sat. (4/13) that Condit was scheduled to testify before the GJ on Fri. (4/12).

Do you really think the GOP can skim off a win in this heavily-laden Democrat pot of stew [district]?

Do you really think the GOP can skim off a win in this heavily-laden Democrat pot of stew [district]?Absolutely. Monteith has won in democrat areas before. You would love him! And his wife is salt of the earth, too. Go, Monteith!!

Monteith is an older guy with a loyal dedicated wife. Monteith has scars on his face; I don't know how the scars came about; looks like from a fire. Scars often mean a strong character has been developed as a result of some tragedy. Monteith is a GREAT speaker and motivator. He is able to think on his feet. He's a diplomat and is very sharp. I was very impressed when I heard him talk at the CalAPRA (Calif American Pistol & Rifle Assn) event a few months back. He received a very enthusiastic response. He is a seasoned politician. I sure hope he wins!!!!!!!!!

At this point, the UC Merced campus site is awaiting approval by the US Army Corps of Engineers as well as EPA. Seems there are wetlands, and critters in danger if the reports are to be believed.
Condit is naturally claiming credit for the Merced site being chosen and ALL the work he did to get the site approved from the Fed level.

You wouldn't believe the work I'm getting done around here on Saturday afternoons. Hehheh :^)

You wouldn't believe the work I'm getting done around here on Saturday afternoons. HehhehLOL! You guys deserve a break! For victory & freedom!!!
To: Diver Dave
Condit claiming credit for this is probably going to hurt Cardoza - especially if Condidit's grand jury performance is lousy. Have you see Monteith in action yet? You will be impressed, pal. Keep us posted on this race. For victory & freedom!!!

Your FReeper name is too cool!

Cardoza. The district has been redraw to elect liberals. We HAD a chance to get Monteith, but some freepers INSISTED on ensuring Condit lost the PRIMARY. Monteith would have beated Condit to a pulp in the general. Oh well, not my state.

"Monteith would have beat Condit to a pulp in the general." You got that right, pal. But I still feel certain that Monteith is going to kick Cardoza's sorry rearend (and boy is it BIG). The bigger they are, the harder they fall (I HOPE)!!! For victory & freedom!!!
