Dinosaurs were in charge of the planet until they were wiped out.
Perhaps the planet needs a periodic catastrophy to stir the evolutionary pot. (lets not start the evolution arguement, there are plenty of threads for that)

People who assume to know whether we are "alone" or not, haven't the slightest capability of truly understanding how large the universe is, how much of it there is, and how limited human understanding is.I've always found a persons presumption of "knowing" whether or not there is life elsewhere a bit akin to "knowing" what God's thinking right now: frankly, no one has a clue. Sure, you can take a guess - and you might even be right - but, you can't prove it.
Never tie yourself to an absolute uncertainty; at best, you'll just look goofy.

You are right! The tides were huge, and the day was short (a couple of hours). Gimme awhile and I can find the reference for this. IIRC, the moon is receding from the earth at about 2 inches (woo hoo!) a year.

Try this ref for an explanation of the what earth would be like without the moon. Written for intelligent layman's perspective:

how do you know there is no life out there?noone knows for sure it probalby goes on forever and if there is life here there is a real good posibility that there is life somewhere in the universe i can't prove you wrong and thats not my intention but neither can you disprove me because i believe there is some kind of lifeform out there in the universe somewhere.i would bet everything i own on that.someday if the lord doesn't come back before then we will be living on other planets after we have space colonies between earth and the moon and we will branch out and beyond but all this is tied to the lord whether he wants us too.

I don't think anyone has made any claims to knowledge.

"I don't think anyone has made any claims to knowledge."
lol. Have you bothered to READ the replies in this thread? Several have made the claim.
To: biblewonk
but there is no life on other planets. Intelligent life? Agreed. We are very, very much alone in that regard. Plant and animal life? I could possibly see it being there. After all, if God allows us to explore the galaxy, why wouldn't He make it a little easier for us by putting some food and water down for us? :)

I was just talking about the piece I had posted.

Ya. That's the problem you have when you're the initial poster. You get people responding to several people on the thread by clicking your name.

Very strange for you to combine the concept of the Lord coming back and the idea of man being around long enough to achieve interplanetary space travel. Very safe bet too. I could bet all that I own that we will discover something that we will never discover too. Since never will never come you never lose the bet. The point of my whole statement is that the existence or non-existance of life on other planets will never be proven. Belief or non belief in life out there is a religious BELIEF.
