Lots of people I like and respect keep saying this, so I am inclined to believe it. That said, I haven't yet seen any hard evidence that Le Pen is an anti-Semite. Could you point me in the direction of some literature or links that will confirm it once and for all. If he is actually an anti-Semite, I want to be able to rid myself of all grudging admiration for the man.

Here's an article in Haaretz that seems to include an interview with him. The reporters themselves don't appear to reach the unqualified conclusion that he's an anti-semite.

I wonder if the sudden re-emergeance of anti-semitism throughout Europe isn't related to the recent swing to the right politically. Establishing a scapegoat in the form of the "The Jews" (or "The Muslims" in the case of France) is historically used by demagogues to solidify their seat in power as the "purgers of the evil within".

Certainly the European press has NOT been more supportive of Israel than the Palestinian Muslims, which raise the question: Are they a shadow of a declining political force? Or, are they a reflection of a rising tide.

He's not only an anti-semite, he's also anti-American. There are several articles about him on the forum tonight, including a rather chilling article about him.

There really isn't much chance of him winning the runoff though but his placement will definitely send a message to the French politicians. If they don't figure it out, they're dead meat.
