"ZOT" has never been defined in the lexicon.

It's meaning bewilders those who aren't on the forum often.

Great stuff, thanks for keeping it going.

Don't know if it's further down the thread, but ...

I dunno what happened to Risky Schemer, but I am currently working on an FR FAQ. (Yes, I know billions have made this claim and produced nothing, but I'm serious. It's half-done already. Given the priority of war posting, I'd say another one to two weeks before I release an alpha for comments.) It will be a total top-to-bottom rewrite of all the various little mini-blurbs out there, plus real live how-to guides for newbies that wouldn't know a Smokey Backroom from Smokey Bear. It already contains most of the updated terms suggested here since February.

I had the pleasure of being present for the "Shower" thread. (Which, though deleted, lives on in lore.)

A FReeper, who shall remain nameless, heard a typically breathless announcement on one of the news stations that there was an incident of some sort at Baltimore/Washington International. This concerned her because her husband was flying home through BWI. She was, however, just about to step into the shower and asked that people monitor the story. She planned to check in as soon as possible. (BTW: This wasn't such a bad idea. We will follow a story more closely and update more often than any news station would.) The problem started when someone (and no, it wasn't me) asked "What are you wearing?". Things went downhill fast.

The incident at BWI turned out to be nothing. Once this was learned, someone instructed her to "shower on" and a FReeper phrase was born. Hence, every time a breathless newsie announces a security threat that turns out to be nothing, "Shower on" stands in for "All clear".

See "Ash", "Judith Hanley" and "Eschoir" in Freeper Lore.

I think you mean Judith Haney. She was a disrupter active in and around the 2000 election. She runs a site called USNEWSLINK. I think she was best known for posting some pictures of herself that were taken in a mirror. They were a hoot. Wish I could find one of the pics.

The entry for "What's the Frequency, Kenneth?" needs to be updated.

Now Rather Knows "the Frequency"

"Now, it seems the 'Kenneth' mystery has been solved--and we all owe Dan an apology. His assailant turned out to be William Tager, 49, who's serving a 25-year prison sentence for killing an NBC stagehand outside the Today show studio. Tager told a psychiatrist that he thought the news media was beaming signals into his head. One of his obsessions apparently was to find out the frequency of the signals."

They still don't know why Tager called him "Kenneth."
