April 28, 2002 -- WASHINGTON - One year after the disappearance of Chandra Levy, Rep. Gary Condit remains an elusive witness in an ongoing grand jury probe of the case, The Post has learned.
Sources close to the investigation have revealed that Condit, whose relationship with Levy made him the central figure in a missing-person saga that transfixed the nation, has twice been subpoenaed to appear before a grand jury in D.C. - but has yet to tell his story under oath.

You are so right - in fact when Patrick Knowlton admitted he had stopped there on the way home to relieve himself and supposedly witnessed some strange goings on regarding the Vince Foster murder, it became an issue when he was called before Starr's committee. They insinuated he had stopped there for other reasons - that he was gay - which he's not! But ... the public became aware at that time that the park was a trysting place for gays.
What the heck is going on here....?
Didn't we find out during our long national nightmare that, except for direct testimoney, the folks involved can discuss GJ related items, such as why this pos is better than anyone else?
Leona Helmsley, Only the little people pay taxes answer subpoenas.
Rock Creek park is a gay trysting place. Before Chandra disappeared, Condit told a SF paper he kept a bicycle in his office so he could sneak out and go for a ride in Rock Creek park.
I don't have any information on the DC vigil, but as I read further in the thread, Kristinn is on top of it with his reply. Thanks Kristinn.
The Modesto Bee article by Bee Washington Bureau writer Michael Doyle, states that Robert and Susan Levy are currently involved in interviews with various media. LKL airs one on Tuesday and the current People mag has an article as well. The Levys will attend the DC vigil and possibly connect via phone to the vigil in Modesto on Wed. evening.
One of the Modesto Bee articles addresses that issue. Congress-critters only have to notify the Speaker if subpoena deals with Congressional matters. That would partly answer the question of notification, unless the original subpoena issued last Nov for "records" was also an all encompassing subpoena for records and testimony. Still no absolute answers though.
My congressman still remains elusive. The voters fired him in March, now the Speaker needs to authorize Bob Barr's original request for an ethics investigation as well as kick his a$$ off the intelligence committee and sub-committees.
It all goes back to your question in post #1.
Run a 'condit' search for numerous Condit/Levy threads today.
Hope to see all of you at the candlelight vigil on Wednesday evening. Freepmail me for dinner details.
