But I can't say it was good sci-fi. Like Matrix, the central part of the plot just seemed too far-fetched to be believable.
The problem with Matrix was the silly idea that human bodies could generate enough clean electricity to be reliable power sources. This, mind you, on an "Earth" where machines rule everything and can build anything without worrying about environnmental impact statements. What's wrong with nuclear fission? Or even wind power, for crissakes!!
Starship Troopers had to potential of being a great science fiction movie, but they botched it from the word go. They didn't follow the book evn in places where it would have been easy to do so. They tried to make it too silly PC. I am glad I watched it on video because I would have hated to spend 3,000 yen to watch in in a theatre.
The movie I would love to see made (again, providing they follow the book) is David Weber's Honor Harrington and Basilisk Station.
Now THAT would be awesome!!!
